Leonid Group has been retained by a leading name in the luxury hospitality sector to appoint a Commercial & Legal Operations Counsel (FTC) to join their Legal & Compliance function for a 12 to 14+ month project to assist with a variety of commercial legal work as well as helping to further optimise the legal function through the use of legal technologies and legal operational methodologies.

The role reports directly into a highly regarded General Counsel who is well known in the sector and will work closely alongside another commercial counsel in the team to cover commercial legal work and the legal operations project. Due to the nature of the role and the fact many of the strategic stakeholders are based in London, we expect a hybrid model (three days per week in the central London offices) to be most appropriate for this position.

This is a well-established, consumer-facing business operating across a significantly diverse range of jurisdictions, offering an excellent opportunity for a commercial lawyer seeking experience in this sector and an opportunity to further hone their legal operations experience.

In addition to salary, the role will be eligible for all the benefits afforded to permanent employees including bonus, private healthcare, life insurance, 25 days’ annual leave, and enhanced pension contributions (7% employer / 2% employee). One particularly notable benefit is the company’s programme of complimentary stays, experiences, and significant discounts on luxury holidays, an offering that extends to family and friends and is highly valued across the organisation.

For guidance purposes only a provisional budget has been set of £90,000 - £95,000 + 20% bonus (candidates with additional experience slightly above this range are encouraged to apply as there may be opportunity to run this project over a 4 day working week depending on the individual).

To be successful in this role, you will already have strong experience in commercial law, likely including some gained in-house and you will, at minimum, have some experience in either supporting or leading on legal operations and legal function optimisation projects previously (you do not need to be a Legal Operations expert and as the role still requires supporting on general commercial legal work you will need to be a qualified lawyer with this relevant expertise).

Due to the nature of the project and the timelines we are looking to onboard someone over the summer so likely you will have availability to start in July or August.

While prior hospitality or luxury industry experience would be helpful; we are particularly interested in profiles coming from fast paced environments where legal technologies and legal function optimisation projects are prevalent – this could include coming from high growth technology or professional services.

We believe this is a rare opportunity for individuals to hone their legal operations experience as well as gain additional commercial legal skills in a unique sought after sector with complex multijurisdictional work in a visible and highly rated brand.
