A leading name in the luxury hospitality sector is seeking a Commercial Counsel (FTC) to join their Legal & Compliance function for a one year maternity cover providing effective commercial legal support to the wider business.
Reporting directly into the General Counsel and working closely alongside a commercial counsel, this role will draft, review and negotiate a wide range of contracts with a focus on agreements for PR and Marketing, Operations, Sales and IT as well as providing training on and promoting compliance with the client’s contract policy.
Working from the global headquarters in central London, this role offers the chance to work alongside highly experienced colleagues, support your continued development, and contribute to a high-performing, collaborative culture. Due to the nature of the role and the fact many of the strategic stakeholders are based in London, we expect a hybrid model (three days per week in the central London offices) to be most appropriate for this position.
This is a well-established, consumer-facing business operating across a broad range of jurisdictions, offering an excellent opportunity for a commercial lawyer seeking their next year long contract within a fast paced and complex environment. There will be opportunity to implement and improve commercial processes whilst engaging with the wider legal team.
Alongside a competitive base salary, the total compensation package includes bonus, private healthcare, life insurance, 25 days’ annual leave, and enhanced pension contributions (7% employer / 2% employee). One particularly notable benefit is the company’s programme of complimentary stays, experiences, and significant discounts on luxury holidays, an offering that extends to family and friends and is highly valued across the organisation.
For guidance only and dependent on experience, the provisional budget is £95,000 + 20% contract completion bonus.
To be successful in this role, you will already have strong experience in commercial law, potentially already gained in-house in a multinational organisation. You will need to be available to start the contract on 1st September to ensure enough time for a suitable handover.
The role will involve regular interaction with senior stakeholders and managing a varied workload independently. As such, strong drafting and negotiation skills across a broad range of commercial contracts are essential, alongside the ability to communicate legal advice effectively and support the implementation of contractual arrangements within the business.
While prior industry experience would be advantageous, it is not essential. The role will suit someone who is comfortable taking ownership of matters, working autonomously, and building effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
