We’re looking for an experienced Wildcat Lead Technical Instructor who brings not only deep platform expertise, but the credibility and confidence to manage complex stakeholder relationships. This is a management role at the heart of training delivery, based at RNAS Yeovilton.
The Wildcat Training Centre (WTC) at RNAS Yeovilton is a world-leading training facility that delivers trained personnel to the UK MOD Wildcat Forces and is fully compliant with the Defence Direction & Guidance for Training & Education (JSP822). The successful candidate will become a member of the WTC Leadership Team and will lead the ground-based training activities for all training audiences.
Reporting to the Leonardo Training Service Manager (Yeovilton), you will call upon your knowledge of the Defence Systems Approach to Training Quality Management System (DSAT QMS) to ensure contractual and regulatory compliance and also drive continual improvement when appropriate. This is an onsite role, based at RNAS Yeovilton.
- Ensure compliance with the Defence Direction and Guidance for Training and Education with respect to ground training activities in the Wildcat Training Centre.
- Provide coordination of all Technician, Groundcrew and Mission Planning Instructors’ tasking in close cooperation with the WTC Planning Office, including support to the Joint Training Planning Team meetings.
- Fully assist the Training Service Manager (TSM) with the achievement of contractual compliance through Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), Management Information (MI) reports, and liaison with the DE&S Wildcat Delivery Team and/or Front Line Commands when appropriate.
- Oversee the maintenance of delivered courseware (including examination material) and the coordination of new courseware deliverables, including the allocation of Subject Matter Expertise.
- Devise and schedule technical training programmes for new staff, facilitate Staff Continuation Training (SCT), Continued Personal Development (CPD) as coordinate the annual re-certification checks for Competence to Instruct (CtoI) for all Technician, Groundcrew and Mission Planning Instructors.
- Conduct end-of-course critiques with the Authority (MOD) and analyse the results of internal validation for the purposes of courseware amendment and instructional quality control.
- Ensure pre and post course documentation and reports are completed within defined timescales. Additionally, to produce periodic reports for the students when tasked.
- Responsible for ensuring that WTC is compliant with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Environmental Protection Act and other relevant HSE legislation.
- Attend the WTC monthly meetings and ensure WTC activities are undertaken in accordance with the requirements set out in the LH SHE Policy, Health & Safety Operating manual, Health & Safety Policies & Procedures (HSPs) and Environmental Management System (EMS).
- Specific responsibilities for Managers and Supervisors are detailed within HSP1010 – Management Responsibilities.
- To sit on the interview panel for the recruitment of ground instructional staff.
A former military Training Manager with a comprehensive understanding of the Defence Systems Approach to Training processes and procedures (i.e. DSAT QS) and experience of delivering training courses to an agreed schedule.
- Minimum Level 3 Teaching qualification and Supervisor qualification in accordance with JSP 822 Defence training Capability policy.
- Determination to develop a groundbreaking Training Service of the highest quality and standards.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with experience of dealing with a range of customers, including Front Line Command representatives.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work unsupervised, to demanding deadlines.
- Ability to seek out, implement and maintain ‘Best Practice’ from all relevant LH training facilities.
- PC literacy with knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Driving License and capability to attain Airfield Driving permit (FMT 600A).
