Our UK Customer Training department are currently recruiting for a Training Equipment Requirements Lead, to join the team at Leonardo Helicopters. In this role you’ll be involved with a range of training equipment, including aircraft simulators, maintainer training devices, systems emulations, and training courseware.
You’ll be responsible for ensuring that the system requirements for these are sufficient to ensure compliance with both Customer needs and regulatory requirements, and tracking these through the full product lifecycle from initial proposal to contract closure.
What you will do as a Training Equipment Requirements Lead
- Responsible for the elicitation, development, capture, understanding, implementation and demonstration of compliance to the system requirements for all UK Training products.
- Liaise and support Training Solutions in the understanding and elicitation of the Key User or Stakeholder Requirements in addition to any Company or regulatory requirements, and clearly capture & define these within the System Requirements Specification (SyRS), both during initial proposals and once on contract.
- Support the development of the system design and manufacture by referencing design proposals to the SyRS thereby ensuring that the relevant requirements are correctly represented in the design solution.
- In conjunction with Procurement, ensure the accurate flow-down of requirements to internal or external suppliers and include appropriate means of test and compliance demonstration within their responses.
- Work with the Test & Evaluation team to author the Integrated Test, Evaluation and Acceptance Plan (ITEAP) to meet the individual project characteristics, develop Test Schedules, and ensure the recording of testing evidence as required to demonstrate final compliance.
- Own the creation and maintenance of the RVTM to ensure full traceability of SyRS from requirement to compliance evidence.
- Employ the Requirements Capture tool (IBM DOORS or similar) to collate evidence to support the compliance declaration, working closely with the SL&SS Test & Evaluation (T&E) team to facilitate this.
What You’ll Bring
- Essential
- Experience of Requirements engineering; ideally qualified to IREB Certified Professional for Requirements Engineering (CPRE) Foundation level.
- Working knowledge of IBM Rational DOORS, Requirements Management tool.
- Experience in operating within industry standard system engineering design practices and quality assurance processes.
- Educated to HND or Degree level in an engineering discipline; alternatively Aircrew or Maintainer Instructor experience of Leonardo Helicopter product/s.
- Understanding of the system engineering ‘V-model’ and iterative software and testing lifecycles; (unit, module and system testing, regression testing, etc.)
- Knowledge of Software (SW) and Hardware (HW) testing methodologies at system, integration and acceptance testing levels.
- Working knowledge of ISO/IEC/IEEE 29148; Systems and software engineering - Life cycle processes.
- General knowledge of helicopter training and operations – both military and civil.
- Knowledge of Simulator Certification standards (ICAO, EASA, RAeS, FAA, MAA RA2375).

- Ability to communicate effectively and build, develop and maintain relationships with key organisation and customer stakeholders based upon trust to ensure that the Training Operations UK Programmes objectives are met.
- Availability for occasional travel to work at customers or suppliers premises when required.
