Your impact

The Training Academy has an exciting opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented Test and Requirements Specialist to support the Simulation Learning & Support Services (SL&SS) Test & Evaluation (T&E) and Requirements Leads, in the delivery of high-quality Training Devices and Support Systems. This role is central to ensuring that customer and system requirements are effectively captured, traced, verified, and validated throughout the project lifecycle.

The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating and contributing to the development and execution of Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs), generating the evidence required to demonstrate compliance against System Requirements Specifications (SyRS) and contracted Stakeholder Requirements Documents/Specifications (cSRD/StRS). In addition, you will support Requirements Management activities across a range of projects, working closely with Technical, Requirements, and T&E Leads to ensure products are delivered on time, to specification, and to the highest quality standards.

This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the successful delivery of innovative training and support solutions that meet and exceed Leonardo Helicopters Division's customer expectations.

What you will do as a SL&SS (UK) Test and Requirements Specialist:

  • In conjunction with the T&E Lead, coordinate and participate in the conduct of the TE&A of training systems to capture evidence to demonstrate compliance with the functional and non-functional requirements including relevant regulatory criteria.
  • In conjunction with the Requirements Lead, assist in the Requirements Management process to include the capture, decomposition, validation, verification, tracing, reporting and maintenance of the Requirements Verification and Traceability Matrix (RVTM).
  • Support the conduct of Verification and Validation (V&V) testing prior to dispatch of LH generated SW packages for integration into a training system to ensure that the delivered SW is of suitable quality and functionality.
  • Assist in the authoring process for Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs) that are correctly linked to the RVTM and provide the basis for generation and capture of evidence to support the compliance declaration.
  • Conduct and document Trial Run Testing (TRT) of ATPs, both in the Supplier’s facility and at the final training location.
  • Support the accurate and timely documentation of TE&A activity for inclusion into SW release notes, bug descriptions, test reports or compliance evidence.
  • Coordinate and participate in the execution of Formal Testing phases – to include Bug Closure, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance and Delivery Testing (SAT & SDT).
  • Ensure that Formal testing is fully documented – either by the Supplier or otherwise, including the collation and dissemination for review.
  • Support the development of test scripts for integration and acceptance test phases, through authoring, proofing and trial run activities, ensuring complete coverage of SyRS and StRS correctly matched to the Requirements Verification Traceability Matrix (RVTM).
  • Develop or support data gathering activities; either on aircraft or using engineering rigs, for which you will be expected to author and execute scripts and capture accurate records of system behaviours.

What you’ll bring

  • Educated as an aeronautical engineer to HNC level and served an Aeronautical Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent military air engineering experience.
  • Understanding and experience of Software (SW) and Hardware (HW) testing methodologies at unit/module and system levels within the context of integration, regression and acceptance testing environments.
  • General knowledge of helicopter training and operations – both military and civil.
  • An understanding of modern training devices/systems.
  • Experience in operating within industry standard design practices and quality assurance processes.
  • Computer Literate - company standard software (NDA) plus SAP and CIETP.
  • Ability to discuss at a technical level with the Engineering, Customer and Supplier as required.

This is not an exhaustive list, and we are keen to hear from you even if you might not have experience in all the above. The most important skill is a good attitude and willingness to learn.

Security Clearance

This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). An additional range of Personnel Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NSV) may apply, this could include meeting the eligibility requirements for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
