Salary Range: £44,000 to £51,000

Your impact

We are looking for a skilled aviation engineer who we will train to become a Reliability & Maintainability (R&M) Engineer. You will apply your existing maintenance knowledge, skills and experience to this new role, which involves identifying possible failures, understanding the effect of failures and preventing them occurring. You will be capable of applying a logical and methodical approach to the required work.

As part of our R&M Team, you will help us drive continuous improvement in platform performance. You will be providing support to design engineering, logistics modelling and prepare contracted deliverable outputs for a range of helicopter programmes across the lifecycle.

You will be based at Leonardo’s site in Yeovil, the Home of British Helicopters, which has been an aerospace hub for more than 100 years. Yeovil is set close to the countryside, within a 40-minute drive of the Jurassic coast and has rail links which can get you to Bristol and Bath in under an hour and a half.

What you will do as a Reliability & Maintainability Engineer:

  • Influence design through Reliability, Maintainability and Testability analysis
  • Create and maintain Failure Modes Effect Analysis (FMEA) documents
  • Create and maintain Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) documents
  • Training and mentoring will be provided to enable you to be successful in this role.

What you’ll bring

  • Qualified in a relevant engineering discipline
  • An understanding of mechanical, electrical or systems engineering.
  • An understanding of preventative and corrective maintenance.
  • The ability to identify potential weaknesses in systems.
  • An analytical approach
  • The ability to create written reports.
  • The ability to make sound technical assessments/judgements
  • Self-motivated and able to work as part of an integrated team.
  • Computing skills including MS Word and Excel are essential
  • Experience of MS Access would be beneficial.
  • Experience in a defence-related aerospace environment is advantageous.
  • An existing appreciation of safety and airworthiness will be beneficial.

This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). An additional range of Personnel Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NSV) may apply, this could include meeting the eligibility requirements for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
