The Processing Core Delivery Team (PX CDT) underpins airborne radar and sensor development in Edinburgh by providing specialist processing expertise in the fields of Waveform Design, Digital Signal Processing, System Modelling and Design, Tracking, Navigation, Tasking and Control, Test Solutions, Autonomous Decision Making and Data Fusion.

We provide engineering artefacts and support to the Electronics Division and LUK Capability across the engineering lifecycle from early concept studies through to solution implementation and integration support.

  • Lead and manage the PX CDT Platform Delivery Teams reporting to the PX CDT PEM and Chief Engineers.
  • Define and implement your design, development and delivery strategy for the Platform Delivery Teams with support from the PX CDT PEM and Chief Engineers.
  • Manage and review the Forward Load for the Platform Delivery Teams to ensure the team size and skill set within the group can satisfy current and future programme demand.
  • Identify emerging technologies from your group and engage with Chief Engineer group and RATs Capability to protect IPR.
  • Work with the PX CDT Function Leads to maintain a critical mass of SQEP to drive innovation and product delivery across our key technical domains.
  • Work with the PX CDT PEM to evaluate any new work being proposed for the Platform Delivery Teams and ensure the team can support business winning activities across the RATs line-of-business.
  • Manage the application of appropriate Life Cycle Management (LCM) processes for all work products under development within the Platform Delivery Teams.
  • Foster and maintain effective relationships with the sector delivery IPTs across the RATs line-of-business.
  • Deploy effective work package management (e.g. EVM etc.) techniques across our teams and monitor adherence to cost and schedule.
  • Drive commonality and promote re-use of engineering artefacts across the CDT and the sectors within RATs.
  • Foster an environment to support personal and professional development for our engineers.

Whats you'll bring; Ideally, we are looking for a proactive engineer and leader, someone with:

  • Experience in applying governance and guidance in Engineering LCM process.
  • Experience in eliciting stakeholder expectations.
  • Proven leadership and decision-making skills in a high complexity, dynamic environment at a senior level.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build trust and respect across engineering teams and senior leadership groups.
  • Experience of integration, with an understanding of the resultant issues, cost and schedule implications, and potential mitigations.
  • Tenacity and determination, with a desire to deliver outputs and results.

This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government's Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). An additional range of Personnel Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NSV) may apply, this could include meeting the eligibility requirements for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
