The Opportunity

The Radar and Advanced Targeting line of business, based in Edinburgh, is among the world\’s top manufacturers of radars, lasers, and infrared countermeasure systems.
This is a permanent nightshift vacancy. We are recruiting for two nightshift patterns:
- Monday to Thursday Nightshift (37 hours): 9.25-hour shifts with a 30% shift premium + basic salary
- 4 on 4 off Nightshift (42 hours): 10.5-hour shifts with a 40% shift premium + basic salary
Role Overview
As a Test Engineer, you will join our Operations team, building cross-functional relationships and supporting the future of the business. You will work on systems such as radars for Typhoon fighter jets, surveillance systems used by coast guards, and avionic systems for military aircraft.
Shift work may be required, including night shifts.
Key Responsibilities
- Test and fault diagnosis of complex system-level products and sub-assemblies in a high-tech aerospace & defence environment
- Fault diagnosis at component level
- RF testing
- Identify and improve test equipment, methods, and documentation
- Interpret and follow test specifications and technical drawings
- Electrical Safety Testing, Product Acceptance Testing, Vibration & Thermal testing
- Maintain communication with Project, Quality, and Engineering teams
- Ensure proper handover procedures and daily/weekly/monthly sign-offs
- Work closely with Systems and Electronics Engineers to resolve integration issues
- Contribute to development methodologies and influence future projects
Qualifications & Skills
- HND or higher in systems, electrical, or RF engineering
- Understanding of electrical motors, gimbals, measurement principles, and RF/Microwave technology
- Experience with focusing cameras/optics and working in clean rooms
- Knowledge of safety precautions for electro-mechanical devices
- Experience with statistical process control (SPC)
