The role of a Sub Contract Manager at Leonardo offers a wide variety of experiences and is both exciting and challenging. This position provides a unique opportunity for a high-calibre candidate to grow within the Integrated Mission Solutions (IMS) sector.
This role involves working within a matrix organization supporting complex assignments for Integrated Project Teams (IPTs). The primary focus will be managing high-value sub-contract commitments, requiring strategic thinking to optimize the value chain, which can include tangible and intangible elements.
What you\’ll do:
- Lead the delivery of sub-contract work packages and procurement services.
- Build effective relationships with IMS Suppliers, Partners, and Subcontractors to support current and future programs.
- Translate customer and project requirements into commercial documents for complex electronic systems and technical services.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and critical success factors.
- Mitigate risks associated with commercial agreements.
- Negotiate contracts for services and deliverables, using standard and non-standard formats.
- Ensure commercial protections like Partnering Agreements, Supply Agreements, NDAs, TAA’s, and Export Licences are in place.
- Influence business decisions throughout the project lifecycle.
- Identify solutions for risks and opportunities, including sub-contract risk, IPR, liability, and currency exchange exposure.
- Create procurement plans aligned with Life Cycle Management principles.
- Develop and review specifications and Statements of Work.
- Promote best practices and knowledge sharing within the function and wider business.
- Manage compliance and governance for all procured items and services.
What you’ll bring:
- Strong communication skills and ability to develop relationships internally and externally.
- Proven experience delivering sub-contract work packages.
- Degree qualification or relevant experience; MCIPS qualification is preferred.
- Understanding of commercial and legal aspects within the Defence/Aerospace industry.
- Ability to think creatively and offer innovative solutions.
- Experience engaging and influencing cross-functional teams.
- Good communication skills, including written and oral presentation skills.
- Experience managing software sub-contracts and complex terms is preferred.
- Knowledge of procurement processes in the Defence/Aerospace sector.
- Understanding of IPR related to contracting in this industry.
- Familiarity with SAP or similar systems.
