The role involves working at our Customer's site in Gloucestershire for up to 4 days per week, to ensure close collaboration with the wider team and with our customers. This role is focused on delivering, maintaining, and improving platform and systems engineering solutions that underpin critical defence, government and public sector services. You will need to hold UK DV clearance while in this post.

What you will do as a Scrum Master:

  • Lead agile teams in the delivery of projects and services using Scrum or other agile frameworks.
  • Facilitate agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Identify and remove blockers, enabling teams to maintain momentum and focus on value delivery.
  • Coach teams and stakeholders on agile principles, roles, and practices.
  • Track and report team metrics, supporting transparency and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners and Delivery Managers to align delivery with business goals.
  • Support agile maturity across the organisation, contributing to agile communities of practice.
  • Champion psychological safety, team empowerment, and inclusive collaboration.

What you’ll bring

  • Proven experience as a Scrum Master or Agile Delivery Lead in complex and high security environments across defence or government.
  • Experience working in software development and knowledge of software and release lifecycle.
  • Strong understanding of agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) and delivery principles.
  • Ability to coach teams and stakeholders in agile ways of working.
  • Experience using agile tools such as Jira, Confluence, Miro, or equivalent.
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • A proactive mindset focused on team success, customer value, and continuous improvement.

Core areas (must have):

  • Agile Leadership: Experience leading agile teams and facilitating agile ceremonies.
  • Delivery Enablement: Ability to remove impediments and support incremental delivery.
  • Coaching & Facilitation: Skilled in coaching teams and facilitating collaboration.
  • Metrics & Reporting: Experience tracking team performance and supporting improvement.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Ability to work across delivery, product, and engineering teams.
  • Tool Proficiency: Confident using agile collaboration tools (e.g. Jira, Confluence, Miro).
  • Agile Governance: Understanding of agile governance, risk management, and compliance.

Desirable:

  • Experience in hybrid or scaled agile environments (e.g. SAFe, LeSS).
  • Familiarity with DDaT delivery principles and government service standards.
  • Agile certifications (e.g. PSM I/II, SAFe Scrum Master, ICAgile).
  • Exposure to DevOps practices and agile engineering environments.
  • Experience working in secure or regulated environments (e.g. defence, government).
  • Ability to mentor junior Scrum Masters or agile team members.

Security Clearance

This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS).
