Job Overview
This role is within a matrix organization, reporting functionally to the Lead Supportability Engineer and on a project basis to the relevant Project Lead. The EW Supportability Engineering group comprises approximately 20 ILS engineers with diverse experience. The position is ideal for a Technical Author skilled in creating military-specification publications and eager to work across various product life cycle stages.
Main Responsibilities
- Technical Documentation Preparation & Updates
- Create and update company-standard publications and templates supporting Leonardo equipment.
- Develop PDF publications meeting military standards (AVP70, AESP, BRs, Technical Orders).
- Draft Modification Leaflets and Aircrew/User Guides.
- Create publications in S1000D standards using a CSDB for data modules.
- Manage data modules lifecycle and publish in IETP and PDF formats.
- Content Management & Strategy Development
- Develop strategies for using Large Language Models (LLMs) for content generation, editing, and proofreading.
- Manage publication review cycles using the company\βs PDM tool.
- Supportability & Engineering
- Assist in maintainability appraisals and demonstrations.
- Handle NATO Codification using UKNCB CSIS tool.
- Participate in ILS meetings and report progress to IPTs.
- Raise concerns affecting ILS activities.
- Process & Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to enhance supportability of in-service equipment.
- Participate in Design Reviews as needed.
Key Experience & Skills
Essential:
- Extensive experience in creating technical publications, both paper and electronic.
- Proficiency in Simplified Technical English (STE) and structured authoring.
- Experience with ILS programs throughout the lifecycle, aligned with Def Stan 00-600.
- Ability to interpret contract requirements and advise on ILS work packages.
- Proficiency with tools like Raytheon Eagle Publishing Solution, LSAR, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Paint Shop Pro.
Desirable:
- Familiarity with tools such as Provisioning Manager, ISODraw, OPUS, SIMLOX, CSIS, Arbortext, Windchill, SAP.
- Knowledge of avionics and lifecycle cost modeling, LORA, and ILS tasks.
Qualifications
- Degree in Electronics Engineering, Avionics Engineering, or relevant field.

- Willingness to travel within the UK and abroad, including overnight stays.
