The focus includes developing sourcing strategies at different stages of the procurement lifecycle, managing work packages, and maintaining ownership of supplier account activities to meet delivery objectives.

What you’ll do as a Senior Sub-Contract Buyer:

  • Lead the delivery of sub-contract work packages and procurement services.
  • Develop relationships with IMS Suppliers, Partners, and Subcontractors to ensure successful program execution.
  • Translate customer and project requirements into commercial documents, especially for complex electronic systems and technical services.
  • Work with stakeholders to understand requirements and critical success factors.
  • Mitigate risks associated with commercial agreements.
  • Negotiate and develop contracts for services and deliverables.
  • Ensure commercial protections like Partnering Agreements, Supply Agreements, NDAs, and export licenses are in place.
  • Influence business decisions throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify solutions for risks and opportunities, such as sub-contract risk, IPR, liability, and exchange rate exposure.
  • Create procurement plans aligned with Life Cycle Management principles.
  • Review specifications and Statement of Work documents.
  • Promote best practices and knowledge sharing within the team and wider business.
  • Manage compliance and governance for procured items and services.

What you’ll bring:

  • Strong communication skills and ability to develop internal and external relationships.
  • Experience delivering sub-contracted work packages.
  • Degree qualification or relevant experience; MCIPS qualification is preferred.
  • Understanding of commercial and legal aspects in the defence/aerospace sector.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams.
  • Effective written, oral, and presentation skills.
  • SAP or equivalent systems familiarity.
