We are looking for experienced Electronics Engineers to join the electronics development team for a key programme in Leonardo’s Advanced Targeting Sector. Advanced Targeting has significant growth opportunities due to a strong pipeline of work, and this position primarily aims to fill a vacancy on the DragonFire system, a cutting-edge Laser Directed Energy Weapon. You will work within a multidisciplinary delivery team responsible for the full Engineering Lifecycle, from requirements capture to final delivery. This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly skilled team during a period of growth for the DragonFire programme.

What you'll do as an Electronics Engineer:

  • Join a team of around ten electronics engineers developing the DragonFire beam-director electronic hardware.
  • Develop new DragonFire electronics through the full design lifecycle: requirements analysis, concept development, design, build, test, system integration, acceptance testing, and delivery.
  • Collaborate closely with Software, Firmware, Mechanical, and Systems engineers to solve integration problems on test systems.
  • Receive technical and personal development support from industry experts in electro-optics and defence avionics.
  • Own assigned electronics work packages, plan your work, and report progress to your team lead.
  • Training will be provided through on-the-job experience and formal courses as needed.

What we need from you:

  • Degree in Electronics Engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Proficiency in at least one area of electronics design: analogue, mixed-signal, digital, or power electronics.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills; experience coaching junior colleagues is desirable.
  • Knowledge of electronics development within a process framework.
  • Experience across the design lifecycle: requirements, implementation, testing, and delivery.

It would be great if:

  • You have experience with Electro-Optics, Lasers, Camera Imaging Systems, Servo Control Systems, Power Electronics, or Safety Hardware.
  • You are familiar with Siemens Xpedition or similar ECAD tools.
