Within the GCAP Joint Venture, in the GCAP Technical Leadership UO, we are looking for a Delivery Manager – Digital Thread for GCAP HQ in Reading (UK).

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead the design, implementation, and through-life evolution of the Digital Thread that enables Digital Engineering for Edgewing, their supply chain and their customers.
  • Own the Digital Engineering information system architecture (data & applications) with two core pillars:
  • Digital Engineering Information Map: define and govern the Digital Engineering Information Map (domains, artefacts, identifiers, lifecycle states, configuration rules, traceability links, metadata), aligned with Edgewing Enterprise Business Architecture, IEC initial capability and FEC full capability milestones, and enterprise cybersecurity & IT infrastructure (scalability, reliability, HA).
  • Toolchain Integration: architect the Digital Engineering application/toolchain integration (legacy + new), ensuring interoperability, model-data compatibility and orchestration across the DE&D value stream; support Digital Twins and physical asset integration; manage toolset selection and licences (distribution, budget forecast).
  • Align with application/technology architectures to guarantee appropriate data replication & synchronisation (separate tool instances, security classifications, networks, geographies, supply chain).
  • Align with cybersecurity controls (protocols, encryption, authentication across classifications; storage, backup/DR, synchronisation) and IT infrastructure (scalability, reliability, HA across geographies).
  • Design digital engineering products/experiences for Edgewing and JV/partners that enhance productivity, collaboration, communication.
  • Architect the application/toolchain integration landscape aligned to the data architecture, ensuring interoperability and model-data compatibility through the product life.
  • Support toolset selection as governing authority for interoperability; demonstrate meeting Digital Engineering Thread requirements with specific toolchains.
  • Orchestrate data flows and workflows along the Digital Thread; enable Digital Twins and physical asset integration.
  • Drive integration across product lines (LSSI/Domain, PCs, Supply Chain) and Enterprise Ecosystem/Technical Architecture.
  • Define data flow contracts and semantic interoperability (identifiers, payloads, metadata, interface contracts) independent of specific tools.
  • Guarantee availability, integrity, consistency: data available when needed, to whom it’s needed, with monitored SLAs.
  • Establish enabling governance (direction > constraints), shared rules for interoperability, decision logs (Interface Decision Records), and architecture reviews.
  • Stabilise the Minimum Common Integration Framework (unique IDs, lifecycle states, configuration rules, traceability links) to prevent silo regression.
  • Ensure cross-system configuration management: versioning, coordinated baselines, aligned variants/dependencies; avoid duplication/divergence via federation rules and single-source-of-truth for key artefacts.
  • Acknowledge efficient Parent Companies legacy; design federated incremental integration, allowing legacy use while deploying new toolchains/interfaces/metadata on ACWE.
  • Ensure cybersecurity protocols are applied (encryption, authentication, classification-aware access), ensure data storage/backup/DR/sync policies, and observability (logs/metrics/traces).
  • Essential Qualifications:

    • Proven experience (minimum 5 years) in a similar role within defence, aerospace, or complex engineering environments, delivering integrated digital solutions across the product lifecycle.
    • Familiarity with event-driven architectures, middleware adoption, Change Data Capture (CDC), and data replication/synchronisation strategies.
    • Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
    • Service Management expertise (e.g., ITIL) with practical experience in managing enabling technology services.
    • Deep knowledge of Digital Engineering technologies, including data architecture, toolchain integration, MBSE/MBD, PLM, simulation environments, and interoperability standards.
    • Proven track record in designing and delivering information systems architecture (data and applications) in federated, multi-domain environments.
    • Strong understanding of engineering processes and data flows, including configuration management, lifecycle states, and traceability requirements.
    • Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, IT, quality, cybersecurity, and supply chain teams.

    Desirable Qualifications:

    • Experience with Digital Twins, physical asset integration, and model-based certification.
    • Knowledge of cybersecurity protocols, encryption, authentication mechanisms, and compliance frameworks for classified environments.
