Are you an experienced and driven leader with a passion for efficiency and quality? We’re looking for a Production Manager to oversee and optimize our production operations. In this role, you will manage all the activities within the manufacturing shops based at Leonardo, Yeovil – the Home of British Helicopters, which has been an aerospace hub for more than 100 years.
Reporting to the Senior Production Manager, within the Transmissions Operations UK department, you will provide effective leadership to the manufacturing shop for both production and non‑production staff to ensure that customer expectations, business objectives, targets and budgets are achieved.
Applicants must already have proven direct management / leadership experience to be considered for the position.
What You Will Do As a Production Manager
- Ensure that production processes are cost effective and meet customer expectations in terms of quality, cost and delivery.
- Implement improvement processes to reduce lead times and cost to meet the requirements of the departmental objectives, target and budgets.
- Formulate, agree and maintain recruitment, training and development programmes to ensure timely availability of manpower and skills to satisfy current and future production plans.
- Promote the company’s policies on Lean manufacture and ensure their effective implementation.
- Ensure the health and safety of all persons working within the area and visitors to it.
- Ensure the Company Quality Assurance System is promoted through regular reviews, audits and corrective actions to maintain the certification standards of the respective authorities.
- Operate the area within the constraints imposed by the departmental budget, i.e. Operating costs.
What You’ll Bring
- Practical and relevant experience of leading a team.
- The ability and desire to affect change and empower and develop the team.
- Technical training or background with a minimum of an Apprenticeship.
- To provide technical leadership to the team and have detailed understanding of Manufacturing/Assembly processes and lean manufacturing principles.
- Knowledge of Company Systems – SAP, Quality, ERP.
- A working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
Desirable
- Health and Safety qualifications – IOSH/NEBOSH.
