The opportunity

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Principal High-Speed Digital Electronics Engineer to join the GCAP development team at Leonardo, based in Edinburgh or Newcastle. GCAP is an exciting new project designing a radar sensor. You will work within a multidisciplinary team across the full engineering lifecycle, from requirements capture to delivery. This is a great opportunity to join a growing program and a skilled team.

What you’ll do as a Principal High-Speed Digital Electronics Engineer

• Design high-speed digital printed circuit boards utilizing FPGA, microprocessor, and high-speed interconnect technologies.
• Support the hardware lifecycle from requirements analysis, design, testing, integration, to acceptance and delivery.
• Document work products, manage configuration, and provide progress reports.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to solve complex system integration problems.

What We Need From You

• Degree (BSc, BEng, MEng, MSc, PhD, EngD) in Electrical & Electronic Engineering or related field.
• Experience analyzing system requirements and applying them to hardware design.
• Schematic capture experience.
• Design of high-speed serial communication links and knowledge of protocols.
• Hands-on hardware, firmware, and software integration experience.
• Structured approach to hardware design lifecycle.
• Debugging, testing, and verification skills.
• Ability to liaise with suppliers and communicate across disciplines.
• Effective time management skills.
