We are looking for an experienced Principal High-Speed Digital Electronics Engineer to join the GCAP development team at Leonardo, based in either Edinburgh or Newcastle. GCAP is an innovative project designing a new radar sensor. You will work within a multidisciplinary team across the entire engineering lifecycle, from requirements capture to final delivery. This is a great opportunity to join a skilled team during a period of significant growth for the GCAP program.
Responsibilities:
- Design high-speed digital printed circuit boards utilizing the latest FPGA, microprocessor, and high-speed interconnect technologies.
- Support the hardware lifecycle from requirements analysis through design, testing, integration, acceptance testing, and delivery.
- Document work products, manage configurations, and provide progress reports.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to solve complex system integration issues.
Requirements:
- Degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering or related science (Physics), such as BSc, BEng, MEng, MSc, PhD, or EngD.
- Experience analyzing system requirements and applying them to hardware design.
- Proficiency in schematic capture.
- Design experience with high-speed serial communication links and understanding of protocols.
- Hands-on experience integrating hardware, firmware, and software in microprocessor-based designs.
- Structured approach to hardware design lifecycle.
- Experience debugging, testing, and verifying new designs, and supporting their integration.
- Ability to liaise with component suppliers.
- Effective communication skills across disciplines.
- Good time management aligned with project schedules and budgets.
