Role Overview
The role of the Planning Manager is to oversee everything at Sector level, reviewing and pulling together all of the plans as opposed to just reviewing them at individual Line of Business (LOB) level. Support the LOB’s Planning Manager, where they will support the accountability for the integrity and achievability of the Master Production Schedule (MPS) supporting a Line of Business through engagement with all key stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Support the Line of Business Planning Manager in proactively reviewing at Sector level all plans and opportunities for the future.
- Chair the Hard Supply Review (Requisition Review) engagement and support the Shop Floor Material Team to ensure best practice material and work order management.
- Proactively interface to create one manufacturing plan with Manufacturing Project Manager/Project Leader, Manufacturing Team Leader, Procurement and Project Managers to ensure robust planning of projects from a manufacturing perspective.
- Manage the MPS and aggregated demand for the relevant area including firm projects and prospects for the 3-month to 5-year window.
- Ensure the plan is executable as it moves into the time-fenced phase including analysis of data on forward load and capacity planning (labour, material and machines) against the MPS.
- Work with Procurement to ensure that Purchase Requisitions are converted in a timely manner to support MRP.
- Manage all overdue requisitions.
- Accountable for all production-owned material to be expedited in line with MRP requirements, ensuring at all times that the Business Stock Optimisation process is adhered to.
- Manage lack of master data required for the group, for stock, and ensure compliance to standard process controls.
- Work with the Edinburgh Operations Planning Manager to review safety stock levels across all LOBs, ensuring that SAP is updated and complies with the Business Stock Optimisation process and supporting business yield requirements.
- Manage all BOM changes for production material, ensuring data is flowed to suppliers and excess is managed, understanding impact of repairs upon plans.
- Introduce supply chain and material supply best practices and reduce supply chain risks.
- Create, maintain and manage a rolling 6-month supply plan with stock cover projection.
- Work with Master Scheduler to develop a demand forecasting tool and process, implement system and process changes.
- Manage all supplier changes through the CRB (Change Review Board) process.
- Chair the weekly Demand & Supply meetings using the new dashboards for your LOB.
- Arrange and lead monthly update reviews with M&SC Manager in line with the overall business process.
- Inventory management and optimisation through life cycle in accordance with lean manufacturing principles, LOB (slow moving / dead stock) requirements and site targets.
- Through simulations, review demand and supply variability, and escalate as required to procurement/project and maintain correct levels of safety stock.
- Manage team development, capabilities and PDPs.
Qualifications
- Knowledge in planning, MPS and inventory controls would be beneficial.
- Knowledge of MRP principles (Demand & Supply).
- Knowledge of implementing and managing change.
- Previous Planning Manager experience, though not exhaustive.
- Good attitude and willingness to learn.
