Leonardo offers an exciting opportunity within the Operations Planning function for an experienced Manufacturing – Planning Manager who will report to the Operations Planning Manager.
Responsibilities
- Proactively review at sector level all plans and opportunities for the future.
- Chair the Hard Supply Review (Requisition Review).
- Engage and support the Shop Floor Material Team to ensure best‑practice material and work‑order management.
- Interface to create one manufacturing plan with the Manufacturing Project Manager/Project Leader, Manufacturing Team Leader, Procurement and Project Managers to ensure robust project planning from a manufacturing perspective.
- Manage the MPS and aggregated demand for the relevant area, including firm projects and prospects for the 3‑month to 5‑year window, labour and material forecasting.
- Ensure the plan is executable as it moves into the time‑fenced phase, analysing data on forward load and capacity planning (labour, material and machines) against the MPS.
- Work with Procurement to ensure that purchase requisitions are converted in a timely manner to support MRP, and manage all overdue requisitions.
- Accountable for ensuring that all production‑owned material is expedited in line with MRP requirements, maintaining the Business Stock Optimisation process.
- Manage lack of master data required by the relevant group, ensuring compliance with standard process controls.
- Work with the Edinburgh Operations Planning Manager to review safety stock levels across all LOBs, ensuring SAP is updated and complies with the Business Stock Optimisation process and supports business yield requirements.
- Manage all BOM changes for production material, ensuring data is flowed to suppliers and excess is managed, understanding the impact of repairs on plans.
- Introduce supply‑chain and material‑supply best practices and reduce supply‑chain risks.
- Create, maintain and manage a rolling six‑month supply plan with stock cover projection.
- Work with the Master Scheduler to develop a demand‑forecasting tool and process, and implement system and process changes.
- Manage all supplier changes through the CRB (Change Review Board) process.
- Chair weekly Demand & Supply meetings using the new dashboards for your LOB.
- Arrange and lead monthly update reviews with the M&S C Manager in line with the overall business process.
- Manage inventory and optimisation through the life cycle in accordance with lean manufacturing principles, LOB (slow‑moving/dead stock) requirements and site targets.
- Through simulations, review demand and supply variability, and elevate issues to procurement or project teams as required to maintain correct safety‑stock levels.
- Manage team development, capabilities and personal development plans (PDPs).
Qualifications and Experience
- Knowledge in planning, MPS and inventory controls is beneficial; training will be provided.
- Knowledge of MRP principles (demand and supply).
- Knowledge of implementing and managing change.
- Stakeholder management, including influencing and negotiation skills.
- Process‑driven methodology.
