Your Impact
Leonardo in Edinburgh are looking for a Senior Commercial Officer to join the Commercial team reporting to the Contracts Manager. This exciting role will contribute to existing contracts as well as new relationships with an interesting portfolio of products and services in the UK, US and worldwide markets.
Job Description
Ideally you will have gained experience in the defence sector but this is not essential; you will be able to demonstrate the ability to work as part of a successful team. Having experience working with customers within the domestic, US and worldwide markets is also advantageous.

Although we are based in Edinburgh and a level of onsite presence will be required, we are open to discussing remote working and flexibility around this role.
What You'll Do as a Senior Commercial Officer
- Drafting, negotiating and administering complex terms and conditions of contracts, working with Procurement to ensure appropriate flow down to subcontractors.
- Drafting and reviewing agreements such as NonâDisclosure Agreements, Software Licensing Agreements and Memorandums of Understanding.
- Providing commercial support and administration to projects and/or contracts, including change control management, monitoring performance of contractual obligations and managing commercial risk.
- Supporting the project team to produce accurate and compliant customer pricing by applying the appropriate pricing strategy and model to cost estimates.
- Representing the Commercial function and Leonardo through unsupervised attendance at customer/supplier meetings.
- Preparing proposals for submission to customers in conjunction with the preparation of internal documentation required to obtain bid approval.
- Ensuring that commercial and business processes and procedures are adhered to and that associated internal approvals are in place in line with delegated authorities.
- Performing complex assignments requiring crossâfunctional collaboration without supervision.
- Building and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships with colleagues, customers and suppliers to deliver value to the company.
- Working as an integral member of the Integrated Project Team to support the winning of new business and the management and delivery of current contracts.
What You'll Bring
- Degree, professional qualification and/or significant domain experience.
- Understanding of basic business finance, profit and loss, margin and markup, escalation, foreign exchange.
- Knowledge of export legislation, import taxes and duties.
- Understanding of contract law and its application.
- Ability to identify and understand commercial risks.
- Ability to build relationships with crossâfunctional colleagues, customers and suppliers.
- Proactive, tenacious, resultsâdriven.
- Ability to work unsupervised at times and sometimes with virtual project teams.
- A desire to learn and improve self (including using the Corporate IACCM membership for selfâdevelopment).
- Ability to promote a culture of best practice and sharing of knowledge within the function and across the wider business.
- Familiarity with SAP and its functionality is desirable.

This role is subject to preâemployment screening in line with the UK Government's Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). An additional range of Personnel Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NSV) may apply; this could include meeting the eligibility requirements for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
