Salary £32k to £40k. Leonardo UK operates a grade-based salary framework with broad bands. The salary range shown reflects the approved grade band for this role, or a narrower hiring range published within that band, and is benchmarked against the external market. Exceptions above the standard range are managed through governance controls to protect internal equity.

The Radar and Advanced Targeting line of business, based in Edinburgh, is uniquely positioned as one of the world's top manufacturers of radars, lasers and infra-red countermeasure systems.

With guidance and training, you will:

  • Assist in developing and maintaining fully resourced, multi-level project schedules
  • Support the application of Project Controls processes, tools, and governance in line with Leonardo standards
  • Help monitor project performance through basic metrics and reporting, including exposure to Earned Value techniques
  • Contribute to schedule updates, identifying potential risks, issues, or conflicts
  • Learn how to apply resource scheduling techniques to support effective planning
  • Assist with simple “what-if” analysis to support project decision-making
  • Support the preparation of Project Controls inputs for project reviews (e.g. schedule reviews, PPRPs)
  • Contribute to bid and project start-up activities to help ensure good planning practices are established early

You will gradually build your understanding of:

  • Schedule management best practices
  • Risk and opportunity identification within project schedules
  • Project Controls tools, techniques, and processes
  • How Project Controls supports delivery, decision-making, and project success

A key part of the role will be building strong working relationships across the project team, learning how to collaborate effectively and contribute to successful project outcomes.

What You’ll Bring:

  • An interest in Project Controls, project planning, or project management, with a desire to build a career in this field
  • A basic understanding (or willingness to learn) Project Planning and Control principles
  • Awareness of planning techniques such as Work Breakdown Structures, scheduling, or Earned Value Management (training will be provided)
  • Some experience using planning or data tools (e.g. Excel, Primavera, SAP, or similar), or an eagerness to develop these skills
  • An understanding of project lifecycles, either through education, placements, or early career experience
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with an interest in using data to support decisions
  • Strong communication skills and an ability to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn, with the ability to follow defined processes and work as part of a team
  • The motivation to work towards professional development, such as APMG Project Controls certification (support and training will be provided)

Security Clearance: This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). An additional range of Personnel Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NSV) may apply, this could include meeting the eligibility requirements for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
