Leonardo UK is seeking a Graduate Platform Engineering Technician to join the Cyber & Security Solutions Division team. This role is focused on supporting the delivery, maintenance and continual improvement of platform and systems engineering solutions across defence, government and public sector customers.
What you will do as a Graduate Platform Engineering Technician:
- Assist with the deployment, configuration, and patching of Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Support platform health checks, monitoring, and basic troubleshooting.
- Maintain and update technical documentation and work instructions.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to deliver small technical projects and service improvements.
- Contribute to change control and configuration management processes.
- Provide technical support to field teams and end-users under guidance from more experienced colleagues.
What you’ll bring:
- All of our roles require (a) a minimum of a 2:2 Bachelors/Integrated Master’s degree, or (b) a higher degree, such as a MSc or PhD in a STEM related subject including Cyber Security.
- A foundation in IT systems — such as Windows operating systems and basic networking.
- An enthusiasm for learning and applying new technologies.
- A methodical approach to problem-solving with attention to process and detail.
- Ability to work as part of a team and follow established engineering procedures.
Core areas (must have):
- Windows/Linux operating systems
- Basic networking principles
- Understanding of cyber security concepts
- Awareness of ITIL or service management practices
Desirable:
- Hands-on experience with patching tools, antivirus, or endpoint security
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
- Knowledge of scripting or automation basics (PowerShell, Bash, Python)
- ITIL Foundation certification
Security Clearance
This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). An additional range of Personnel Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NSV) may apply, this could include meeting the eligibility requirements for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
Location
This role can be based at one of our UK sites, Bristol, with hybrid/custom working options where appropriate.
