Your impact

You will join the Product Support Engineering (PSE) team to provide critical support across helicopter platforms. Working closely with the Production Services Managers, you will provide guidance, instruction, direction and leadership to the Aircrew Publication Team to ensure all publications meet aircraft programmes and In Service Support requirements and are delivered on time.

For internal applicants this role is a JFF level 6.

  • Co-ordinate and motivate the Aircrew Publications team members on a daily basis, providing excellent communication and reporting of issues, risks and status to the relevant managers.
  • Provide guidance and management to aid the resolution of team member day to day issues, and oversees team member work for quality and guideline compliance
  • Harmonisation of the Aircrew Publications team process and procedures across all platforms.
  • Ensure deliveries are to the right content / functionality within the agreed budget and timeframe.
  • Control and co-ordinate all requested work into Production Services via the associated business systems to ensure all activities are delivered in an effective and timely manner & communicate deadlines goals to team members.
  • Ensure all departmental KPI’s are managed and reported and where necessary identify business improvement initiatives to ensure department functions to meet stakeholder’s expectations.

As the AW101 Aircrew Publications Lead, you will join the Product Support Engineering (PSE) team to provide critical support across helicopter platforms. Working closely with the Production Services Managers, you will provide guidance, instruction, direction and leadership to the Aircrew Publication Team to ensure all publications meet aircraft programmes and In Service Support requirements and are delivered on time.

Leadership of the Aircrew Publications team to:

  • Ensure the Aircrew Publications team provide a smooth and efficient service focused on control of all platform variants and work scope
  • Ensure control of the Aircrew Publications performance, highlighting any concerns to the management team for action to ensure departmental targets are met and executed in a timely manner
  • Ensure the quality standards for all deliverables are met using effective monitoring and corrective actions.
  • On a monthly basis control the development and distribution utilising reporting mechanisms to ensure all stakeholders understand the work scope, status and issues.

Daily Activities:

  • Manage and control where necessary the team of aircrew authors to ensure all work is correctly tasked, planned and is achieved to schedule and budget. Control data integrity with SAP and financial reports
  • Conduct of engineering documentation analysis and interpretation of other technical information in order to produce relevant and accurate aircrew operating, procedural and technical information to a multiple of operators.
  • Deliver the necessary support to validation and analysis of data created with the relevant stakeholders to ensure the issue of quality approved aircrew information to the fleet operators
  • Manage and highlight engineering source data changes e.g. STR/ETI/WEI/ATS/ATP’s/FTI’s (Flight Test Instructions), Safety Documentation and MFTP’s (Military Flight Test Plan) to ensure relevant information is aligned where practicable.
  • Maintain effective communication and provide advice to your manager and other stakeholders on progress/status of Work Authorisations, Aircrew Publication Amendment Requests (MF765X) and Non-Conformance Report on Aircraft Publications (NCRAP) that have been tasked to you.
  • Plan your tasks and make the best use of available resources to effectively minimise/reduce the cost. Discharge tasks to agreed quality and endeavour to meet planned time and budget requirements.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Educated to at least HNC level in a relevant aviation related subject. Alternatively, to have completed a recognized engineering apprenticeship followed by a period of employment in all aspects of aircraft maintenance and overhaul, sufficient to gain the necessary practical experience for the job role
  • A minimum of 5 years aircraft engineering and/or aircraft Technical Publications experience.
  • Detailed knowledge of air publication specifications e.g. ASD Spec 1000D, MilSpec1388 LSAR, DADS, DAvP 70/77, ATA02/90, ATA100, etc.
  • Knowledge of technical authoring and production tools e.g. Framemaker, Eagle Publishing System (EPS) and CAPS2000.
  • Have the ability to interpret engineering, flight test and performance group source data.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills.
  • Ability to work to changing deadlines under pressure.

An additional range of Personnel Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NSV) may apply, this could include meeting the eligibility requirements for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
