Salary: £53k to £57k. Leonardo UK operates a grade-based salary framework with broad bands. The salary range shown reflects the approved grade band for this role, or a narrower hiring range published within that band, and is benchmarked against the external market. Exceptions above the standard range are managed through governance controls to protect internal equity.

Your Impact
As System Safety Engineer, you are fundamental to the safe design of the complete air vehicle and working within the team you will have the ability to participate in all phases of the product design life cycle from participating in leading edge innovation to supporting aging aircraft. You will be working on our wide product range encompassing conventional helicopters and uncrewed air systems.
What you’ll do as a System Safety Engineer:
- As part of the System Safety Engineering team you will carry out the system safety analysis activities for design and in-service support.
- Primary tasks will include the authoring of Functional Hazard Assessments in conjunction with the technical specialists and performing detailed analysis of failure conditions, in order to influence the safe design and certification of Leonardo products.
- You will also cover In-service support of existing Leonardo products, including development of necessary modifications.
What we need from you:
- Training in the use of formal safety analysis methods, or alternatively extensive experience in the application of equivalent skills.
- Knowledge of specific IT tools such as Fault Tree+ or equivalent.
- The ability to plan and execute tasks to achieve timescales and costs.
- Good interpersonal skills to ensure effective team working and an appropriate working relationship with external customers.
- Proficiency in the use of general office IT tools, such as MS Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
It would be advantageous if you have:
- Knowledge of Rotorcraft and systems, ideally relevant to our EH101/AW101/AW159/Lynx platforms.
- Evidence of working in a regulated environment with knowledge of airworthiness regulations eg MAA, EASA or FAA.
- Experience of Defence Standard 00-056, ARP4761/4754.
- Experience in the use of requirements capture tools, such as DOORS.

Security Clearance
This role will require National Security Vetting to SC level. It is a requirement that the successful applicant will undergo, achieve, and maintain SC Clearance. A range of Personnel Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NSV) will apply, this will include meeting the eligibility requirements for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
