  • Be willing to flex across roles where needed, supporting colleagues and contributing to the wider team’s objectives.
  • Take ownership of engineering delivery for one or more work packages, including planning, estimation, execution, and reporting.

  • Integrate, test, and support network components, ensuring compliance with performance and security requirements.
  • Provide guidance and technical support to other engineers and technicians within the team.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, project teams, and customers to ensure solutions meet operational and technical requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, engineering standards, and governance activities.

What you’ll bring:

  • Strong technical ability with demonstrable experience of delivering and supporting secure network solutions.
  • Experience working onsite in secure environments.
  • Adaptability and willingness to support a range of operational tasks, not solely project-based engineering activity.

Core areas (must have):

  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, OSI model, and routing/switching protocols (BGP, OSPF, HSRP, QoS, VPNs, VLANs).
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco (CCNA/ CCNP level) or equivalent multi-vendor equipment (Dell, Palo Alto, Fortinet).
  • Ability to provide 1st, 2nd, and 3rd line support in a secure operational environment.
  • Experience with network security technologies (firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPN, NAC).
  • Experience designing, configuring, and supporting networks within secure on-premise environments.
  • Experience with network monitoring, diagnostic, and support tools.
  • Understanding of ITIL and service management frameworks.

Desirable:

  • CCNA/At least one Cisco CCNP module or equivalent certification/experience (2-4 years).
  • Knowledge of software-defined networking (SDN, SD-WAN).
  • Familiarity with scripting and automation (Python, Ansible, Terraform).
  • Exposure to SIEMs and wider cyber security toolsets.
  • Familiarity with MODCert and associated compliance processes.
  • Experience with SolarWinds for monitoring and infrastructure visibility.
  • Experience with enterprise IT services (Active Directory, DNS, PKI, monitoring).
  • Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to technical governance.

This is not an exhaustive list, and we are keen to hear from you even if you might not have experience in all the above. The most important skill is a good attitude and willingness to learn.

This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). An additional range of Personnel Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NSV) will apply. This role requires Developed Vetting (DV) clearance prior to starting.
