Salary: £45,000 to £61,950. Leonardo UK operates a grade-based salary framework with broad bands. The salary range shown reflects the approved grade band for this role, or a narrower hiring range published within that band, and is benchmarked against the external market. Exceptions above the standard range are managed through governance controls to protect internal equity.

Your Impact

Are you an experienced Electronics Engineer that would like to aid in the delivery of high-performance hardware that forms part of our Eurofighter Typhoon Radar? If so, we would love to hear from you. In this role, you will experience the full engineering lifecycle within Leonardo assisting with both product development and production support. You’ll collaborate closely with a wide variety of stakeholders across the business and work in close partnership with the Typhoon Integrated Project Team. This role will require the successful candidate to obtain DV clearance.

What you’ll do as Senior Electronics Engineer:

  • Ensuring that Processor products are delivered on time and to cost by assisting in a range of design, test & manufacturability issues.
  • Provide technical hardware expertise to the development branch of the programme, assisting in Verification & Validation activities.
  • Design engineering solutions considering all requirements such as product quality, safety, reliability and testability.
  • Resolve routine and complex technical and delivery issues within engineering, related to defined work package assignments, and in accordance with local team engineering plans and processes.
  • Communicate non-routine technical and delivery issues to local engineering team or direct line management with resolution proposals.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities to develop skills and competencies within the individual’s own engineering discipline and wider project.

What you’ll bring:

  • A degree or higher qualification in Electronics or a related engineering discipline.
  • Supporting throughout the full hardware lifecycle from requirements analysis; through design, and unit test; integrating hardware with the target system; production support; and lastly to acceptance test and delivery to customer.
  • Hands on experience of Hardware, Firmware & Software Integration of digital systems onto hardware platforms is essential.
  • Good domain knowledge of high-speed serial communication links and knowledge of associated protocols and architectures.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and a demonstrable tenacity for understanding and implementing robust Root Cause and Corrective Action plans.
  • Working within a multi-disciplined team of engineers to solve real integration problems on complex systems.
  • Fully documenting and recording your work products; keeping them under configuration management and providing plans and progress reports.
  • Good understanding and experience of the design of high-performance products for series production.
  • Hardware schematic generation.
  • A background with experience working with high-speed digital technologies.

This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). An additional range of Personnel Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NSV) may apply, this could include meeting the eligibility requirements for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
