Your Impact: Leonardo is seeking a Lead Project Manager to join the Typhoon Radar ECRS Mk0 Development Integrated Project Team (IPT), supporting the delivery of a complex radar development programme for the Eurofighter Typhoon platform. The Development IPT is responsible for evolving the Mk0 radar in line with an agreed capability roadmap, delivering enhancements across both Air-to-Air and Air-to-Surface functionality. The Lead Project Manager will be responsible for the delivery of the Mk0 development for the P4E aircraft. This major programme introduces a fundamental change in radar operation, transitioning from traditional Operational Modes to Task Based Management (TBM).
As a member of the Programme Team, you will lead a large, multi-disciplinary IPT and act as a Business Owner as the team operates within the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). The role requires close collaboration with customers, internal stakeholders, and the supply chain to deliver agreed outputs to cost, schedule, and performance commitments. Given the early phase of the P4E programme, the role also includes an element of campaign and bid management, supporting proposal development and associated customer engagements.
- Support the Programme Manager and incumbent Project Management team in the leadership and coordination of IPT Project Engineering Leads and internal functions, including Engineering, Planning, Finance, Quality, Operations, Procurement, and Commercial.
- Act as Business Owner within the SAFe construct, aligning priorities and supporting Programme Increment (PI) planning.
- Support work package management, including planning, cost control, and Earned Value Management (EVM).
- Maintain close liaison with the Planning function to ensure accurate status, forecasting, and programme reporting.
- Coordinate and support internal and customer reviews, managing actions through to closure.
- Contribute to project and programme reporting, including Project Performance Reviews.
- Maintain project risk and opportunity registers throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support the development of robust cost, schedule, and resource estimates to inform financial forecasting.
- Contribute to campaign and bid management activities, including proposal development and review support.
- Represent the IPT at internal and external programme forums as required.
What You'll Bring:
- Degree-level education in a business or engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Project Management experience across multiple phases of the project lifecycle.
- Knowledge and application of Project Management tools and techniques, including EVM, Schedule Risk Analysis, and risk management.
- Experience working within SAFe or other Agile delivery environments.
- Experience leading complex engineering programmes with prime contractors.
- Strong stakeholder management, leadership, and communication skills.
- Experience working with suppliers and awareness of supporting functions such as Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, and Configuration Control is advantageous.
- Experience of working in an international consortium or international suppliers would be advantageous but not essential.
Security Clearance: This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). An additional range of Personnel Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NSV) may apply, this could include meeting the eligibility requirements for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
