Your Impact
Reporting directly to the Head of Engineering Projects, Typhoon Radar, and collaborating closely with Design Authorities, a Project Engineering Manager is required to lead & coordinate the engineering support to production for the Typhoon Captor Radar contracts and to aid with the ongoing maturity development of the radar system capability.
Leading, and continuing to grow and develop the existing team, you will have full responsibility for all aspects of engineering support to production of the Captor-E radar. This role requires strong leadership skills, clear thinking with a proven ability to identify and prioritise key issues whilst deploying solid root cause and corrective action techniques to run problem solutions to completion through design or process change. Additionally, you will be required to support the ongoing capability development for the programme and advise on process and technique improvements not only in production but also for product functionality development.
As part of the Typhoon Radar IPT, this role is Edinburgh based and requires predominantly on site working and reports on a day-to-day basis to the Head of Engineering Projects.
What you'll bring;
- Be the primary engineering point of contact for operations, a key individual in the delivery of Typhoon radar production.
- Provide leadership and direction to the existing engineering support team to ensure production output targets are achieved, managing the prioritisation of activities and deployment of resource to best support product delivery.
- Plan and execute effective root cause / corrective action plans.
- Grow team capacity and capability through people and process development.
Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required
- It is anticipated that the successful candidate will have a first degree or higher qualification in Electronics or a related discipline.
- Strong team leadership skills evidenced by a good track record of successful team management in a challenging business environment, preferably with a focus towards production / manufacturing support.
- Exceptional problem solving skills and a demonstrable tenacity for understanding and implementing robust Root Cause and Corrective Action plans.
- Strong technical management skills and experience including management of design and development, risk management, design for manufacturing, design margin estimation and management.
- Good understanding and experience of the design of high performance products for series production.
- Typically meets the requirement for registration as a chartered engineer.

This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). An additional range of Personnel Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NSV) may apply, this could include meeting the eligibility requirements for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
