Salary Range: £53,269 - £58,000

The salary range shown reflects the approved grade band for this role, or a narrower hiring range published within that band, and is benchmarked against the external market. Exceptions above the standard range are managed through governance controls to protect internal equity.

Your Impact:

At Leonardo, we are looking for an experienced Project Accountant to join our team in Edinburgh. Leonardo is an international leader in electronic and information technologies for defence systems and aerospace. The role is a mixture of home based working and onsite in Edinburgh. You will be working as part of an integrated project team and part of the Edinburgh Finance Team. You will manage and be responsible for the financial and project reporting requirements for a specific group of projects. The role is within a dynamic business sector that looks to deliver solutions to a truly global marketplace.

What you’ll do as a Project Accountant:

  • Manage and be responsible for the financial and project reporting requirements for a specific group of projects within the Airborne AESA Radar sector, providing accurate, timely and relevant management information as well as providing advice and guidance to the project teams.
  • Support Financial Controller with preparation of sector monthly forecasts including assumptions, risks and opportunities and explanation of forecast movements.
  • Support the business in producing robust monthly Contract Status Reports (CSRs) and quarterly Sales and Margin Trading Plans.
  • Monitor financial performance through the Monthly Forecast and Business Planning processes.
  • Work with the Project Team / budget holders to understand forecast, Business Plans and CSR movements.
  • Support business winning team in delivering optimal customer solutions.
  • Reconcile financial data and resolve problems/issues where appropriate to ensure integrity of information provided.
  • Ensure all financial procedures and controls are applied as required; and support non-finance functions on their application.
  • Proactively seek to improve local processes and working practices to drive efficiencies across the team and wider business to help drive the Finance function forward.

What You'll Bring:

  • Fully qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA, or ACCA).
  • Strong understanding of IFRS 15 and its practical application.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to adapt your approach to different stakeholders.
  • A proactive and solutions-focused mindset, with the initiative to identify and drive improvements.
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong proficiency across the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Previous SAP experience would be advantageous.

This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). An additional range of Personnel Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NSV) may apply, this could include meeting the eligibility requirements for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
