As a Tax Compliance Accountant you will report to the Senior Tax Manager and support corporate tax compliance for the main UK legal entity and its subsidiaries. You will prepare all aspects of the corporate tax compliance cycle, including statutory reporting, liaise with finance, commercial and external advisors, and coordinate with teams across the UK and Italy. The role is a hybrid position combining onsite and remote working each week and can be based from either Yeovil or Edinburgh.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collate information from divisional SAP systems and carry out detailed analysis for all corporate tax returns, including UK, overseas branches, and Permanent Establishments.
  • Extract and analyse data used for the annual Research & Development Expenditure Credit (RDEC) and Patent Box claim for Leonardo UK Ltd, and organise meetings with partners and advisors.
  • Ensure all Corporate Income Tax payments are made on time and that journals, reconciliations and tax accounts comply with reporting deadlines.
  • Support the preparation of quarterly and annual tax provisions and input into Hyperion Financial Management.
  • Assist with preparation of documentation required for Senior Accounting Officer responsibilities and support audit requests.
  • Assist in the provision of documentation and maintenance of the annual UK Transfer Pricing report and documentation.
  • Collate and prepare information to comply with Controlled Foreign Companies and Country‑by‑Country Reporting requirements.
  • Provide liaison and support to other departments on technical tax matters, including corporate tax advice at bid stage.
  • Support the internal forecasting process and act as a contact with relevant stakeholders.
  • Minimise exposure to penalties from late submissions or tax audits, and support the documentation of the Tax Team’s processes and evidence.
  • Prepare information to respond to Law 262 internal audit and external audits.
  • Support the wider tax team as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Professionally qualified or partially qualified compliance specialist with relevant experience.
  • Good IT skills, including knowledge of SAP/ERP or equivalent systems.
  • Strong attention to detail, communication and influencing skills.
  • Ability to communicate confidently and effectively at all levels of the business.
  • Strong focus on governance and controls.
  • UK corporate tax, reporting and forecasting experience.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Flexible working style with the ability to multi‑task.
  • Motivated team player willing to be hands‑on.
