Your opportunity to join a dynamic team defining the supportability for Leonardo’s new un‑crewed helicopters. Project Proteus is a new un‑crewed autonomous air vehicle Leonardo is looking to bring to market. To support future sales, customers need to understand and have assurance of the operating and through life costs associated with the product. As the Proteus Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) Engineer, you will explore current and future technologies and help influence design to deliver reliable cost‑effective operations.
Responsibilities
- Managing the on‑going through life support cost analysis as the design matures.
- Exploring new technologies and validating them to identify innovative ways to safely and cost effectively operate and support an autonomous air vehicle.
- Reporting to the Proteus Platform Lead, and as part of the Proteus Development Team, you will be central in delivering high‑quality support solutions for the Proteus development vehicle, ensuring effective through‑life management and alignment with evolving customer and airworthiness requirements.
- Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to the development and optimisation of support strategies.
- Providing Integrated Logistic Support to the Proteus development vehicle as part of the Proteus Development Team.
- Conducting aerospace and wider market analysis to identify best practices and emerging technologies that enhance through‑life support.
- Developing and presenting support solution option briefings to inform design and maintenance decisions.
- Carrying out virtual and physical validation of technologies and maintenance concepts to support data‑driven decisions.
- Interpreting and responding to customer requirements, both formal and evolving, relating to technical support.
- Maintaining and updating whole‑life concept documentation to reflect current design and maintenance philosophies.
- Ensuring airworthiness considerations are fully integrated into all customer support activities.
- Supporting the delivery of Proteus ILS and technical support services, bringing energy and initiative to continuously improve ways of working.
- Operating effectively under pressure, managing changing priorities and deadlines.

What you’ll bring
- A formal engineering qualification at Degree Level or equivalent relevant experience.
- The drive and motivation to challenge established norms.
- Knowledge of applicable UK MoD defence standards and Naval aircraft support procedures.
- Knowledge of the company business, commercial, technical and procurement organisations and processes.
- Understanding of Leonardo Helicopters, Product Support to Engineering and Design Organisation and associated processes and procedures.
- The stature to communicate effectively at all relevant levels within the company, suppliers and customer organisations, including the ability to control meetings.
- The drive and motivation to work in a cross‑functional and multi‑disciplined team, establishing key working relationships.
