Join Our Training Academy Leonardo Helicopters are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and experienced Mechanical aviation engineer to join our Training Academy in Yeovil.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in developing the next generation of aircraft maintenance engineers and operators, by delivering high-quality technical training to Leonardo’s customers and internal workforce.

As a Mechanical Instructor, you will shape the next generation of technicians and operators.

You will deliver engaging training, act as a Subject Matter Expert for allocated systems, and ensure all training aligns with customer requirements, engineering data, and operational necessity.

What you will do as a Mechanical Instructor

  • Deliver engaging classroom and practical mechanical training to Leonardo and customer personnel.
  • Develop, review, and maintain technical training materials in line with current aircraft documentation and regulatory requirements.
  • Assess learner competence through practical and theoretical assessments, providing constructive feedback and support.
  • Ensure all training is delivered safely, effectively, and in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering, design, and programme teams to ensure training reflects current aircraft configurations and maintenance practices.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Training Academy, identifying opportunities to enhance training quality and learner experience.
  • What you’ll bring
  • Essential Requirements Experience in aircraft mechanical maintenance, ideally within the rotary-wing aviation sector.
  • Strong technical knowledge of aircraft mechanical systems and maintenance practices.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Enthusiasm, reliability, and a collaborative mindset.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Previous instructional or training experience within aerospace or defence.
  • Recognised teaching or instructional qualification (or willingness to work towards one).
  • Experience developing technical training materials and course documentation.
