Salary Range: £44k to £50k. Leonardo UK operates a grade-based salary framework with broad bands. The salary range shown reflects the approved grade band for this role, or a narrower hiring range published within that band, and is benchmarked against the external market. Exceptions above the standard range are managed through governance controls to protect internal equity.
Your impact: Are you familiar with engineering processes, auditing and governance? Our Helicopter Division at Leonardo in Yeovil is recruiting for an Engineering Governance Officer. Working in the Engineering System Monitoring function you will be contributing, as part of a team, towards continual monitoring & demonstration of compliance for the UK Engineering operating framework applicable to both external regulatory and internal requirements, as well as representation for UK Military Products within UK-ITA integrated process and activities.
You will use your collaboration skills and resourcefulness to optimise the Engineering elements of the Company Operating System and to engage with functional interfaces and senior management across all levels of the Engineering organisation and wider business, to ensure proper and effective development of products and definition of engineering policies, procedures and processes.
What you’ll do as Engineering Governance Officer:
- Support the planned activity for internal (self) audits to ensure the UK Design Approved Organisation Scheme (DAOS) organization design assurance processes are present, suitable, operating and effective.
- Support and prepare for external (Leonardo Helicopter Quality Systems or third party) audits.
- Review new or revised versions Company Operating System changes for their applicability to Engineering and Engineering processes.
- Review and update UK Engineering processes in line with UK Regulatory requirements.
- Be the focal point for Engineering functional manual ownership and SAP/IT System queries.
- Review and respond to Company process and procedure (primarily Integrated Procedures, Core Instructions and Departmental Instructions) to ensure no negative impacts upon engineering process or third party approvals i.e. DAOS, Inspection Approvals, and Airworthiness Approvals.
- When requested, provide timely responses to Audit findings, LASORs and other airworthiness investigations Inc. feedback and effective action update and closure plans, aligning where practicable with Bowtie tools and methods.
- Functional Manual review, maintenance and update.
- Be the local lead for IT/Tech support and input to BRDs, System changes and data management actions.
- Disseminate knowledge of all the relevant processes across Engineering.
- Identify improvements and updates to existing methodologies and process where able.
What you’ll bring:
- A general understanding of the business environment, including customer capability requirements, contract frameworks, competitor products/capabilities and the associated financial aspects.
- Must be able to work individually and as part of a team, with good communication skills and levels of initiative.
- Knowledge of the UK regulatory framework, Engineering processes and the Company Operating System.
- Familiarity with auditing processes.
- Familiarity with Company ICT applications such as SAP as well as Word and Microsoft Office competency.
- Understanding of the company’s design, development, test and certification processes would be an advantage.
