We’re seeking a Project Manager – GCAP Enablers for the 6th Generation Combat Air program. This hybrid role can be based at any of our main national sites and involves influencing delivery of the work that sustains GCAP across its lifecycle. The role requires navigating a complex environment and facilitating diverse cross‑functional teams to drive the programme forward.
Responsibilities
- In conjunction with the project accountant, monitor and control project finances and the CSR.
- Assist in adherence to lifecycle management.
- Focus on governance and control in a complex environment supporting both national and international project elements of GCAP, providing the capabilities required to deliver a system of systems across Digital Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Data and Facilities & Infrastructure (physical/digital).
- Lead the transition as GCAP moves from Concept and Analysis into Design and Development, drawing out implied tasks and managing ambiguity in both linear and iterative project lifecycles.
- Maintain high‑level communication skills, engaging stakeholders at all levels and working with a tri‑national team across multiple companies in a multicultural environment.
- Manage hybrid engagements, including monthly UK travel for face‑to‑face meetings, planning events and limited international travel.
- Work a flexible schedule with a maximum of two days on site per week, depending on project needs.
- Apply a defence background advantage where applicable, while learning quickly, communicating clearly and integrating into a diverse team.
- Deliver project progress reviews across a portfolio of work, highlighting key risks, issues and problems.
- Understand project finance and communicate the impact of scope creep and delay using financial metrics.
- Collaborate with teams across the UK, Italy and Japan.
Qualifications
- Ability to work with people, negotiate mutually beneficial outcomes, and be comfortable making decisions.
- Demonstrated experience operating in a PM capacity in an aligned industry or project area.
- Strong fundamental PM skills; APM advantage.
- Strong analytical, management and financial skills to support accurate project schedule and cost reporting.
- Ability to manage priorities, understand dependencies, communicate issues clearly to senior leadership, and champion continuous improvement in Teams' ways of working.
- Commercial and contractual experience is beneficial.
