We are seeking a Trade Compliance Specialist to support the Management of UK Export Control and Trade Compliance within our Trade Compliance department. The role includes working with internal business functions to ensure activities comply with UK and other trade control laws and regulations. Some national travel may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain record keeping in accordance with company procedures and HMRC & DBT regulations.
  • Process re-exports of imported goods under Customs control to discharge financial liabilities.
  • Work with Project Teams and functions to manage Export Control and Trade Compliance aspects of Equipment and Technology (including data) within UK and foreign export authorisations.
  • Support internal and external audits relating to Export Control and Trade Compliance matters.
  • Provide advice and guidance to Project Teams on UK Export Control regulations and internal corporate policies.
  • Identify appropriate UK export licences and authorisations (e.g. MOD Form 680s, End User Undertakings) for business needs.
  • Submit and manage Export Licence applications to DBT-ECJU via SPIRE/LITE.
  • Submit MoD Form 680 applications to UK MoD via SPIRE/LITE and liaise with MoD for approvals.
  • Provide specialist advice and recommendations to Project Teams to support Commodity List Classification (CLC) and Export Control Ratings.
  • Ensure Project Teams receive clear guidance on licensing and customs matters to meet delivery times.
  • Contribute to planning and management through export licensing and customs expertise.
  • Ensure correct processing of imported goods in accordance with Customs Authorisations, including record keeping and HMRC reporting.
  • Provide import clearance instructions to freight agents for timely customs clearance and delivery.
  • Process internal reports and ensure compliance with HMRC regulations.
  • Process Export Control and related customs procedures, assign appropriate export licences and customs procedures within SAP, and provide clearance documentation and instructions to Shipping Support.

Qualifications

  • Experienced export control/trade compliance professional.
  • Detailed knowledge of UK Export Licensing and Trade Controls.
  • Good working knowledge of foreign import/export regulations, including EU Member States and US ITAR/EAR.
  • Good working knowledge of UK/EU Customs regulations.
  • Presentation skills for training delivery.
  • All-round computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications.

Security Clearance

This role is subject to pre-employment screening under the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). Additional National Security Vetting (NSV) may apply, including eligibility for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
