Your impact
Can you apply your EMC knowledge to Helicopters? We are looking to recruit our next EMC/ Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) Engineer to join our team within the Helicopter Division based in Yeovil, Somerset. This role offers the opportunity to work at varying levels of seniority and complexity, dependent on your experience.
As an EMC (E3) Engineer you will be working in a cross-geographic team to design, develop and qualify system installations and rotary wing platforms in response to customer requirements and certification regulations.
As an experienced candidate, you have the prospect of progression to develop into a Chief Project role, where you will have technical autonomy for a helicopter product type for all aspects of E3/EMC. Compliance Verification Engineer opportunities may also be available for the appropriate candidate.
What you will do as an EMC (E3) Engineer:
• Review and manage vendor qualification activities according to EMC aerospace standards (DO-160, DEF STAN 59-411)
• Evaluate modifications of varying complexity with respect to electromagnetic environmental effects and provide Subject Matter Expert input to multidisciplinary teams throughout the design/development activity
• Undertake Helicopter testing/ analyses including generation of required documentation
• Analyse and implement design mitigation measures at platform level
• Produce documentation to support demonstration of compliance with civil/military requirements
Due to the nature of the work this role does require on-site presence for a minimum of 2-3 days per week.

What you’ll bring
• Certification/Qualification; CS27/CS29/Def Stan 00-970/AEP-80
• Aircraft system installation design and compliance demonstration experience, which may include antenna siting, bonding/ EMC/ HIRF/ EED/ Static/ Lightning indirect effects/ direct effects zoning and protection
• Familiarity with ED-107, ED-81, ED-91/91, ED-113, AC20-158/136, ARP equivalents, DEF STAN 59-411 & 59-114
• Vendor qualification; DO-160, Def Stan 59-411, MIL STD 461
• Platform EMC/ E3 trials activities, for example derived from ED-248/ DEF STAN 59-411/ DEF STAN 59-114
• Analysis of Radiation hazards to Fuel (HERF), Personnel (HERP), Ordnance (HERO), Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP), Portable Electronic Device Tolerance
