An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen to join our Edinburgh Procurement function as a Senior Sub‑Contract Buyer in our Radar and Advanced Targeting line of business. Leonardo is a global leader in defence electronics and delivers mission critical systems for situational awareness, electronic warfare and surveillance across land, sea and air.
The Senior Sub‑Contract Buyer will be responsible for the creation of supplier contracts to ensure contractual compliance in line with internal and external governance. They will be expected to contribute towards developing appropriate sourcing strategies at all phases of the product life‑cycle, managing and reporting on their own work packages and areas of responsibility, expected to work independently and will be involved in supplier account management activities.
What you’ll bring:
- Responsible for putting in place the appropriate contractual agreements, including but not limited to, internal and external Customer flow downs, Non‑Disclosure Agreements (NDAs), Technical Assistance Agreements (TAAs), End User Statements (EUSs) and Export Licences, Price Agreements, Statements of Work (SoWs), Purchase Orders, etc.
- Responsible for the management of Supplier delivery performance of New Product Introduction (NPI) Contracts throughout the Contract lifecycle in line with defined Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) and contractual conditions.
- Preparing the relevant Request for Quotations (RFQs), Request for Information (RFI) and associated contractual documentation packs.
- Acting as a focal point and demonstrate an ability to consolidate and summarise information and report upwards to internal stakeholders.
- Creating and presenting contractually compliant packs for internal and external audits (e.g. Government bodies or their agencies).
- Market analysis and benchmarking of supplier pricing to ensure price reasonableness is achieved and documented.
- Plan and execute the negotiation of supplier pricing and other contractual terms and provide reporting for internal/external audit purposes.
- Providing analysis of material pricing to support the Product Cost Review Boards, with a view to highlighting cost reduction opportunities in line with declared project/product targets.
- Identify and encourage supplier competition for material requirements, utilising the Source Review Board (SRB) process as an enabler.
- Providing support in preparing reports such as Procurement Plans to outline the status and progress of material sourcing, contractual compliance and bid support.
- Identify and manage risk and opportunity, working collaboratively with the suppliers and members of the Integrated Project Team (IPT).
- Placement of orders and robust contracts that are agreed and acknowledged by the supplier, execution of contracts to conclusion of both product deliverables and non‑deliverables.
- An understanding of configuration control and updating the supplier contracts, as and when the changes are intimated, to always ensure an effective and up‑to‑date baseline.
Security Clearance
This role is subject to pre‑employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). An additional range of Personnel Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NSV) may apply, this could include meeting the eligibility requirements for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
