We have an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Equipment Engineer to join us at Leonardo in Edinburgh working on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern. Leonardo is an international leader in the development of cutting edge sensor products deployed across a wide range of airborne platforms. Pushing the boundaries of technology, accuracy, and safety in engineering globally. We are looking for a Manufacturing Equipment Engineer with a proven background in manufacturing to join the team to develop, improve and support the operations equipment and equipment processes enabling world class production of Leonardo products.

What you’ll do as a Manufacturing Equipment Engineer:

  • Continuously improve manufacturing equipment processes challenging current manufacturing processes and facilities to identify opportunities to reduce cost and timescales.
  • OEE – Overall Operational Equipment Effectiveness, participate in the uptime/utilization data analysis.
  • Maintenance and calibration of manufacturing equipment internal Leonardo calibration and external calibration process conducting TPM to schedule.
  • Interface with the Calibration Services provider to support the calibration and repair requirements of the relevant manufacturing and test equipment and tooling.
  • Assist in keeping spares aimed at maintenance, repair and upgrade activities.
  • Ability to resolve routine manufacturing equipment issues & constraints (relieving bottlenecks) on shop floor reacting efficiently to escalation from manufacturing teams.
  • Support the design, implementation and maintenance of manufacturing EPA / ESD arrangements ensuring successful ESD processes are in place.
  • Maintain manufacturing equipment documentation set, e.g. maintenance schedule and process checklist.
  • Maintain manufacturing equipment critical spares and proactive review/oversight of obsolescence.
  • Support the maintenance of manufacturing support facilities and services to ensure successful manufacture/test of products.
  • Support as required Capital Investments e.g. Installation, advise maintenance definition.
  • Assist and support Manufacturing Engineering preparation of Manufacturing Maturity Reviews.
  • Participate in the Equipment Criticality Assessment / Risk Assessment processes.
  • Support internal and external audits of the Manufacturing, Test Equipment and Calibration processes.
  • May supervise an Industrial Placement or Summer Student.
  • Maintain equipment and company reputation by complying with government regulations.

What you’ll bring:

  • Good practical knowledge of manufacturing processes and principles.
  • Ability to articulate and explain technical understanding.
  • Good problem solving skills.
  • Data analysis skills.
  • Demonstrated achievement of own tasks within equipment engineering discipline.
  • Awareness of related engineering disciplines and levels of interaction required within an IPT.
  • Experience of measurement techniques and the use of equipment for example: temperature, humidity, dew point, pressure, vacuum, airborne particles and vibration relevant to the manufacturing facilities.
  • Experience of manufacturing equipment, facilities and supporting services, including Clean Rooms, Special to Type Test Rooms, Environmental Facilities & Chambers (Thermal & Vibration).

Security Clearance

This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). An additional range of Personnel Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NSV) may apply, this could include meeting the eligibility requirements for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
