Graduate Business Apprentice
The Opportunity
Leonardo offers a range of Apprenticeships from 2-4yrs. across a variety of STEM and business routes, offering paid training, coupled with on the job learning that enables you to gain practical skills, experience and knowledge that sets up the best start to your career. We support helping you settle in to your new location ensuring you are familiar with the team and have a warm welcome from day 1. There is a member of our Apprentice team at each site, helping you progress, ensuring your study time is protected, enabling access to digital learning as well as opportunities to get involved with the local community and STEM projects, enhance many aspects of each programme.
During Leonardo’s four year Business Management Graduate Apprenticeship scheme in Edinburgh you will study at the University of Strathclyde for completion of a Business Management BA (Hons) degree through a mixture of work based learning, distance learning and day release at University.
We need people who understand the importance of effective project planning and controls and are ready to commit to working in the business, whilst also committing to a 4 year degree programme. It is an opportunity to contribute and gain experience by specialising in one of the business Sectors.
During Years 1 and 2
In addition you will work closely with work‑based mentors to enable you to apply your academic knowledge within the work context. You will learn how to schedule projects and track project performance.
Years 3 and 4
are designed to develop higher level cognitive skills and enable the continued integration of knowledge, professional competencies and transferable skills. You will provide input to Integrated Project Teams meetings to answer questions concerning business projects and be able to co‑ordinate activities with other related areas of the business to support the business process. You will further enhance and develop your operational skillset to enable you to take ownership of your own business portfolio.
The positions available this year will either be in our Planning, CS3 or Procurement teams.
Role Requirements
4 Higher Grades (or equivalent): BBBB
Mandatory: Mathematics & English
Preferred: a business related subject
AND
Standard Grades (1-3) / National 5: (A-C) in English (or equivalent qualifications to Highers / Standard Grades).
Note: SAAS funding from English apprentices moving to Scotland must have residency in Scotland before August 1st 2026.
