Leonardo's UK Corporate Legal Affairs (CLA) team supports all UK business units and divisions, providing legal and corporate support not covered by commercial lawyers. The team works on regulatory matters, corporate criminal offences, health and safety, product compliance, and other legal and regulatory obligations to ensure operations comply with UK and overseas requirements.
Responsibilities
- Provide advice to cross‐functional teams and senior UK stakeholders on regulatory matters and corporate criminal offences.
- Support investigations into regulatory and criminal matters, including product safety and health and safety issues.
- Advise senior leaders and directors on regulatory risk, director liability, and statutory duties related to health and safety and other compliance obligations.
- Collaboratively prepare and submit regulatory reports, filings and disclosures to relevant authorities.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of compliance activities.
- Act as a recognised legal expert within a multi‐disciplinary team or standing committee, liaising with and advising senior management.
- Monitor legislative and case law developments, communicating practical advice to the Legal, Corporate Legal Affairs and Compliance teams and the wider business.
- Lead and assist with wider business and ad‐hoc legal activities as required.
- Provide support to the broader Corporate Legal Affairs and Compliance teams on regulatory matters, including health and safety, criminal law and investigations.
- Develop strategies to assess and manage regulatory legal risks and collaborate with stakeholders across Leonardo UK to implement them.
- Interpret and analyse current and proposed laws and regulations.
Qualifications
- English or Scots qualified lawyer, 4+ years post‐qualification experience (PQE).
- Strong background in regulatory and compliance law, with proven experience in implementing statutory requirements, investigations, enforcement action and regulatory defence.
- Deep understanding of corporate liability, director duties, and organisational accountability.
- Ability to analyse complex legal and regulatory issues, assess risks and provide practical solutions aligned with business goals.
- Drive to support the business and add value to the Corporate Legal Affairs team.
- Experience working with or for a regulator is advantageous but not essential.
- Experience with UK security regulations, UK flight safety regulations or GDPR and data protection is advantageous but not essential.
- Familiarity with defence, aviation, manufacturing or technology sectors is advantageous but not essential.
- Intellectual curiosity and willingness to learn.
Security Clearance
This role requires pre‐employment screening in line with the UK Government's Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). Additional Personnel Security Controls under the National Security Vetting (NSV) programme may apply, potentially including eligibility for the Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
