Job Description:
Your Impact
We are looking for an experienced Principal Power Engineer to join the PSU Core Delivery Team (CDT) Team for a hybrid working role based in Edinburgh. The Team provides expert advice, guidance, design and governance throughout the full lifecycle of all projects on site for matters related to Power on the biggest avionic radar projects in the UK, for platforms such as Typhoon, Gripen and GCAP.
You will be working within a multi-disciplined delivery team with responsibility across the full Engineering Lifecycle from requirements capture to final delivery. This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to join a highly skilled team at a time of significant growth within Leonardo.
What you\’ll bring
Your primary role will be to provide ongoing support to the legacy PSUs and CPS\’ associated with the Captor Processor and Receiver PSUs (3 different variants of each) and its associated automatic test equipment. Your role will also involve the ongoing support for the Gripen PPS (Primary Power Supply) and emerging support activities for ECRS and GCAP PSUs.
You will be responsible for;

  • Production Support for the Captor Processor and Receiver PSUs
  • Support to the Production automatic test equipment to aid fault finding
  • Production & development support for the Gripen PPS and its associated SRIs (Shop Replaceable Items)
  • Development support for the ECRS Processor PSU and CPS; Receiver PSU and PI/F; RF Interface PSU, GCAP PSUs
  • Provide support to other members of the CDT, including schematic capture, component selection and derating and simulation of power supply circuitry.
  • Support PSU CDT for full range of power system tests including prototyping, design verification and production support.
  • Work closely with other CDTs and the EMC Team to create earth & grounding diagrams, EMC plans and design stage review material.
  • Knowledge sharing with the other members of the PSU CDT.
  • Provide design and domain knowledge support to Projects, CDTs, suppliers, workshare partners and customers.

You will also play an active role in the on-going process improvement initiatives within the team and knowledge sharing of Power related topics across the wider business.
