We're looking for an experienced and driven Logistics Manager to play a pivotal role in leading our logistics operations and supporting the continued growth of our business. Reporting to the Logistics Contract and Operational Manager (LCOM), this newly created position has been established to provide day-to-day leadership of the logistics team, enabling the LCOM to focus on strategic priorities and future capability.

You'll have the opportunity to influence the performance of our logistics and transport operations, champion continuous improvement, and ensure our services remain safe, efficient, cost-effective and customer-focused.

What you will do as Logistics Manager:

  • Deputise for the LCOM in their absence at senior meetings.
  • Manage the professional development and performance of the logistics team.
  • Build and sustain professional working relationships with all stakeholders to ensure the continuous development of logistics and transport services.
  • Support business requirements related to logistics and transportation to deliver projects on time, quality and cost.
  • Continuously improve operational process efficiencies; reduce cost, improving service times and quality, considering industry and peer benchmarks to strive for best-in-class performance.
  • Lead and manage the logistics contract team to develop knowledge and understanding across the function.
  • Manage risk across the logistics and transport value streams to secure and improve performance.
  • Engage with stakeholders to coordinate and communicate future demands to enable appropriate capacity levels across logistics and transport contracts.
  • Monitor and control the spend across numerous financial budgets to ensure the correct capacity, investments and recovery actions are delivered.
  • Investigate and assign ownership and accountability to LH and suppliers to assure business demands are achieved.
  • Sponsor operational excellence activities throughout supplier processes, striving to exceed customer expectations.
  • Act accountably for the health, safety and environmental policies of the logistics and transport contracts.
  • Control and assure the quality standard requirements across the logistics and transport processes.

What you’ll bring:

  • A sound educational background and a minimum 5 years’ experience within a logistics or supply organisation in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience of working across/within cross functional teams and have proven experience in managing key suppliers to achieve high levels of business satisfaction and confidence in their ability to meet business requirements.
  • Ability to work within a rapidly changing environment and demonstrate agility in thinking in order to balance a significant number of variables before reaching an informed decision on logistics and transport issues.
  • Possess influencing skills, have proven negotiation skills and leadership acumen.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to create and maintain effective working relationships at senior levels within both the company and supplier organisations.
  • Computer literate in company standard including SAP.
  • Team management and leadership skills.
  • A working knowledge of the Company Operating System.
  • Able and willing to travel alone or as part of a team within the UK and overseas.

Security Clearance: This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS).
