Description: Your Impact We are looking for a HSE Coordinator to join the team in Southampton.
The role will be focused on the delivery of Health, Safety & Environment support within the Integrated Sensing and Protection (ISP) line of business across three sites in Basildon, Essex and Southampton.
You will work within the requirements of Leonardo UK Health, Safety and Environmental Management Systems, undertaking Gap analysis whilst ensuring that all non-conformances and opportunities for improvement are brought to the attention of the Leonardo site HSE Managers (Basildon and Southampton).
As the HSE Coordinator you will
- Risk Assessment Support including assist with the scheduling and documentation of routine risk assessments across departments.
- Provide administrative support in identifying potential hazards and recommending appropriate controls.
- Manage risk assessment tool/system with new, reviewed or archived risk assessments, to include chase emails in support for HSE Manager and HSE advisor.
- Administrative support including managing PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for the site, order, issue and maintain record.
- Maintain effective communication with all departments to promote safety awareness and compliance.
- Conference room bookings/catering/hosting requirements.
- Manage shared HSE inbox where required and provide support where necessary.
- Support local Sub-Committee Meetings – room bookings, minutes Liaise with relevant support services to ensure the preparation and delivery of site HSE communication programme, including the upkeep of information on site notice boards and intranet pages.
- Liaise with local Managers to ensure the timely preparation and review of task, COSHH, noise, manual handling and fire risk assessments.
- Work with local Management teams to ensure accidents, incidents and near misses are investigated in a timely manner to determine the root cause and introduce appropriate controls.
- Ensure Risk Assessments and Method Statements are in place and followed as part of Control of Contractors process Work with the site HSE Manager in the preparation and delivery of site HSE internal auditing programme.
- To provide a prompt and polite service in response to all departmental requests.
- Ensure that Leonardo UK security and emergency procedures are adhered to at all times, taking an active role in an evacuation of the building as laid down in the site Incident Control Procedures.
- Provide administrative support and document reviews as well as any other Health, Safety and Environment related tasks requested by the HSE Manager.
- Take an active role in Energy and Waste monitoring, reduction & record keeping.
- Compile and distribute regular HSE reports.
- Engage in HSE meetings, including the preparation of information & minute taking.
- Regularly liaise with all outsourced service providers including ISS, Xerox, DXC.

What you’ll bring
- Appropriate professional Health and Safety qualifications (minimum NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent qualifications).
- Appropriate professional Environmental qualifications (minimum IEMA, NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate or equivalent qualifications).
- Internal Auditor in one or all of the following standards ISO 14001/ ISO 45001 ISO 50001.
- Relevant experience in a manufacturing/engineering environment.
- Relevant experience in HSE promotional activity.
- Detailed knowledge of UK statutory regulation concerning safety, health and environment.
- Have an understanding of safety culture development.
- Be able to plan and co-ordinate HSE projects.
- Security Clearance
This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS).
An additional range of Personnel Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NSV) may apply, this could include meeting the eligibility requirements for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
