b Overview /b p In this role you will lead front-end manufacturing engineering for the GCAP program, ensuring smooth transition from design to manufacture and delivering robust, scalable production solutions. You will shape processes and equipment for world-class Leonardo production, while guiding internal and external stakeholders and mentoring others. You’ll tackle manufacturing challenges, drive continuous improvement, and apply DFx and NPI methods in a fast-paced, on-site Edinburgh environment. This is a pivotal opportunity to influence cutting-edge sensor and aerospace manufacturing at scale. /p b Pay / Benefits /b ul li pension scheme with up to 15% employer contribution /li li generous leave with up to 12 flexi-days per year /li li mental health support and wellbeing resources /li li bonus scheme /li li access to Coursera and LinkedIn Learning /li li flexible working and hybrid options /li /ul b Responsibilities /b ul li Lead front-end manufacturing engineering activities from DFx input to resolving production capability issues /li li Develop and refine manufacturing processes and equipment based on product requirements /li li Prepare Manufacturing Maturity Reviews and maintain governance via Lifecycle Management /li li Create and contribute to Manufacturing Plans; review process documentation and risk assessments /li li Assure quality through process validation, standards establishment, and capability validation /li li Contribute to failure investigations using structured problem-solving (e.g., 8D) /li li Identify and drive continuous improvement within Manufacturing Engineering /li li Deliver improvement projects and train manufacturing engineering community /li li Travel opportunities within the UK and worldwide to supplier locations /li /ul b Key requirements /b ul li Manufacturing engineering ability with HNC or equivalent experience /li li Desirable HND or higher in an engineering discipline /li li Confidence to challenge technical/process issues /li li Understanding of APQP, PFMEA, Design of Experiments, NPI, risk assessment and root cause analysis /li li Ability to influence and negotiate using data-driven reasoning /li li Ability to own a work package and plan/schedule own workload /li li Ability to communicate complex concepts in a non-technical way /li li Experience in capability/process development and implementing changes to working practices /li li Knowledge of Product Life Cycle processes /li li Security clearance eligibility (UK nationals only) including BPSS and NSV/SC/DV where applicable /li /ul ul li Confident in tackling technical issues /li li Data-driven decision making /li li Influencing and negotiating with stakeholders /li li APQP methodologies and tools (PFMEA, Design of Experiments) /li li New Product Introduction (NPI) /li li Process capability validation and verification /li /ul
