The salary range shown reflects the approved grade band for this role, or a narrower hiring range published within that band, and is benchmarked against the external market. Exceptions above the standard range are managed through governance controls to protect internal equity.
Your Impact:
Based on site in Edinburgh, you will be part of the team developing and delivering within the Advanced Targeting Sector, to ambitious timescales to support the end-user’s requirements. The established Integrated Project Team (IPT) comprises a multi-site cross-functional team of engineers, production and other professionals from across the business.
These roles will focus on oversight of Directed Energy product developments as well as sector-wide Test Equipment activities, ensuring mutually supporting strategies and plans are in place across the various functions involved. This will involve working across with all those within the IPT and stakeholders across the wider business including Engineering, Procurement, and Production to ensure development and timely execution of the product roadmap.
As the Lead Project Manager, you will:
- Report to the Head of Programmes for the IPT.
- Be the primary point of contact to customers and external parties.
- Lead the project teams to ensure all material and resources are available to support assembly activities.
- Own the risk management strategy and mitigation actions for the product.
- Engage with other functions to develop and execute the product roadmap.
- Own the project schedule.
- Provide internal reporting updates in line with company governance.
- Be based onsite 3-4 days per week.
What you'll bring:
- You will typically be degree qualified in a business or engineering related discipline or an equivalent suitable level of work experience.
- You will have Project Management experience in managing projects with multiple stakeholders.
- You will be enthusiastic and well organised.
- You will have the ability to embrace and work to tight timescales/deadlines.
- You will be a team player and have the natural ability to support others and seek support.
- You will possess effective and flexible communication, negotiation skills and interpersonal skills.
- Strong stakeholder management.

And it would be highly beneficial if you have:
- A working knowledge of SAP.
- APM / PMP qualification (or working towards a qualification).
- Experience of working within the Ministry of Defence or National Armaments Group.

This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). An additional range of Personnel Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NSV) may apply, this could include meeting the eligibility requirements for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
