Leonard Cheshire is a national charity supporting 1,000 people with disabilities across the UK. As we invest in new infrastructure, cloud services and modern security capabilities, we are looking for a hands-on Security Analyst to strengthen our cybersecurity operations using Microsoft Defender and Microsoft 365 security tools. Protecting Leonard Cheshire's systems and data across our nationally distributed care organisation, you will manage day-to-day security monitoring, incident response and Microsoft security tools, working closely with our external IT service provider. You will review alerts, investigate threats and ensure core protections remain effective. You will also support security improvements through projects, supplier governance and compliance activities. Working with the Head of IT and external partners, you'll have real ownership of security monitoring and the freedom to improve processes, introduce automation and strengthen our security posture.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and investigate alerts using Microsoft Defender and Microsoft 365 security tools
- Manage phishing threats, quarantined emails and vulnerability alerts
- Coordinate security incidents with our managed service provider
- Oversee security-related tickets and changes
- Support compliance with NHS Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT) or similar frameworks
- Assist with Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and supplier security reviews
- Deliver the organisation's security awareness programme
- Provide security input to IT projects
- Support initiatives such as multi-factor authentication rollout, security controls and automation
- Identify opportunities to improve security processes using automation or AI tools
Skills & Experience
- Experience as a Security Analyst and hands-on use of Microsoft Defender and Microsoft 365, Entra and Azure security tools are essential.
- Experience supporting security incident response
- Understanding of cloud, networking and modern IT environments
- Experience with frameworks such as DSPT, Cyber Essentials or equivalent
- Ability to create security awareness materials for non-technical staff
- A proactive, improvement-focused mindset
- A methodical approach to managing operational priorities
