Occasional/Bank hours available. These are to cover for annual leave and sickness only. The hours and shifts will vary.

Shifts are from 08:00 – 14:00, 13:30 – 19:30, or 08:00 – 19:30.

A night enhancement of £1.50 per hour applies from 8pm to 7am, Monday to Sunday (excluding sleep-ins). A weekend day enhancement of £2.00 per hour applies from 7am to 8pm on Saturday and Sunday.

*We are currently consulting on a proposed change to the enhancement rates. If accepted, from 1 December 2025, new rates of £1.00 per hour will apply to night work (8pm Monday to 7am Friday) and weekend work (8pm Friday to 7am Monday). This does not apply to sleep-ins.

Newlands House is home for 35 people with physical disabilities and has a \”Good\” CQC rating.

We are based on Main Street, Netherseal, Swadlincote DE12 8DA. Please check the location before applying.

Due to limited public transport to Newlands House, you will need access to your own transport or live in the Netherseal area.

About the role

We have a vacancy for a Catering Assistant to join our team. Supporting the Cook in our busy care home, you will assist in delivering food and beverages, ensuring menus are healthy, nutritionally balanced, and meet any dietary requirements.

You will support residents at mealtimes, maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness at all times.

We enjoy celebrating, so helping during various events throughout the year is a great part of this role!

To be successful, you will have:

  • Food preparation experience and knowledge of safe food hygiene and handling procedures.
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate or willingness to obtain one.
  • Flexibility to work according to the rostered hours.
