We are looking for a detail-oriented and technically capable BESS Business Analyst to support the design, implementation, and optimization of our Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and Energy Management System (EMS) solutions. You will act as the bridge between business stakeholders, product teams, and engineering teams to translate operational requirements into clear system specifications and actionable deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
- Business & Requirement Analysis
- Gather and analyze business requirements from internal stakeholders and customers
- Translate technical and operational requirements into BRD / PRD / user stories
- Define system workflows for EMS platform, monitoring dashboards, and alarm systems
- Perform gap analysis between business needs and system capabilities
- BESS & Energy Domain Support
- Understand core BESS components (BMS, PCS, meter, STS, etc.)
- Support definition of dispatch logic (TOU, peak shaving, demand charge reduction)
- Assist in defining alarm rules, notification workflows, and reporting KPIs
- Support regulatory and compliance requirement analysis
- System & Data Analysis
- Analyze telemetry data flows (Cloud & Edge architecture)
- Support API definition and integration requirements (SCADA, third-party systems)
- Validate data models and field mappings for device onboarding
- Assist in defining system configuration and user access control workflows
- Testing & Validation
- Develop test cases and UAT scenarios
- Support SIT/UAT testing and defect tracking
- Validate feature implementation against business requirements
- Support release documentation and training materials
- Stakeholder Management
- Work closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and Project Teams
- Support customer workshops and requirement clarification sessions
- Prepare functional documentation and presentation materials
- Coordinate cross-functional communication
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field
- 3+ years experience in Business Analysis, preferably in energy, IoT, or industrial systems
- Strong documentation and analytical skills
- Experience writing BRD / FRD / user stories
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies
- Strong communication skills
Preferred Experience
- Experience in BESS / Renewable Energy projects
- Familiarity with Modbus / CAN / IEC protocols
- Understanding of cloud-edge architecture
- Experience working with dashboards and data visualization platforms
- Knowledge of battery systems and EMS logic
