The Opportunity:

Are you tired of business development roles where you’re expected to make endless cold calls, chase short-term wins, and are judged primarily on activity levels rather than the quality and commercial value of the relationships you develop? Perhaps you enjoy sales but perform at your best when you have the time to understand customers, build trusted relationships, and identify opportunities that meet their needs? This is a predominantly account management focused role within an established SaaS business. You’ll inherit a portfolio of existing B2B customers and take responsibility for strengthening those relationships, protecting recurring revenue, and identifying opportunities for further growth.

Although this isn’t a heavily cold-focused position, it does require a strong business development mindset. You’ll need to recognise commercial opportunities, confidently pursue them and convert them into additional revenue through renewals, cross-selling, upselling and the introduction of further products and services. If you have the curiosity and aptitude to learn a sophisticated SaaS solution and become a credible, commercially astute partner to your customers, we would love to hear from you!

Why This Role Stands Out:

  • Basic salary up to £55,000 per annum, commission structure equating to circa £75-80,000 per annum, plus car allowance £4,000 per year
  • Annual salary reviews with regular market benchmarking
  • Remote or hybrid working depending on where you’re located (to be discussed)
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Pension scheme with employer contribution and matched enhancements
  • Health Cash Plan including 24/7 GP access, dental and optical cover
  • Death in Service cover (4x salary)
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Paid volunteering days
  • Discretionary bonus
  • Modern office environment and collaborative culture
  • Team events, knowledge sharing and continuous learning opportunities
  • High levels of autonomy, trust and ownership
  • Structured training and development opportunities to help you grow
  • The opportunity to influence technical strategy within a growing technology business

What the Sales Account Manager / Account Development Manager Will Do:

  • Manage and develop an established portfolio of B2B customer accounts, building credible relationships and understanding their evolving commercial and operational priorities
  • Identify, pursue and convert opportunities to increase revenue through renewals, upselling, cross-selling and additional SaaS products or services
  • Create and maintain strategic account development plans that support sustainable, profitable customer growth
  • Lead regular account reviews remotely and in person, including approximately three to four customer visits per month once established
  • Prepare commercially appropriate proposals, quotations and contract renewals, taking ownership of opportunities throughout the sales process
  • Coordinate with internal product, technical, delivery, customer service and finance teams to ensure proposed solutions are suitable and delivered effectively
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, sales forecasts, account plans, orders and contractual information throughout the customer lifecycle

What You’ll Bring:

We’re looking for a commercially driven Sales Account Manager or Business Development Manager who understands that strong relationships create opportunities and knows how to pursue and close those opportunities. You’ll ideally bring:

  • A successful background in B2B account management, business development or consultative solution sales.
  • Clear, measurable evidence of achieving or exceeding sales, revenue, retention or account-growth targets. Please ensure your CV clearly demonstrates exactly how you’ve performed against previous targets.
  • Experience identifying and converting opportunities to upsell, cross-sell and expand existing customer relationships
  • SaaS or software sales experience would be a significant advantage
  • A consultative approach, strong commercial judgement and the ability to understand a customer’s needs before recommending a solution
  • Excellent organisation and attention to detail, including disciplined management of CRM records, forecasts and account plans
  • The ability to learn a complex software solution, communicate its commercial value clearly, and hold credible conversations with a range of stakeholders

A full UK driving licence will be required due to occasional customer and office visits.

Location: The role can be performed remotely from within England, with occasional travel to customers and the company’s office. Proximity to London, Nottingham, the Midlands, Hampshire or Dorset could be particularly useful. Some travel will form part of the role, although much of the day-to-day customer contact will take place remotely.

Why You Should Apply:

Perhaps you still enjoy sales but want to move away from relentless cold prospecting and instead take ownership of customer relationships that are worth investing in. This is an opportunity to be rewarded for the commercial value you create and have the autonomy to develop your accounts strategically. If you’re commercially ambitious, can demonstrate exactly how you’ve performed against previous targets (please ensure this is clear on your CV), and enjoy turning trusted customer relationships into sustainable growth, we’d love to hear from you. Apply now or contact Michelle at Leo Recruitment for a confidential conversation. You don’t need a perfect CV, but your application should clearly demonstrate your sales achievements and the measurable results you have delivered.
