Your Role

As the UK Medical Director, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for the UK Medical Affairs function, ensuring the delivery of high‑quality scientific support, governance and compliance across the UK affiliate. You will shape medical strategy, drive evidence generation and expert engagement, and partner cross‑functionally with commercial, market access, regulatory, R&D and global teams to support product development, launch and lifecycle management.

Key responsibilities

  • Medical Affairs Leadership
    • Shaping and executing the affiliate Medical Affairs strategy, informed by competitive insights and external expert engagement.
    • Collaborating cross‑functionally to influence life‑cycle management, launches, brand plans and global business strategies.
    • Leading scientific and external engagement and representing LEO Pharma with key stakeholders.
  • Performance & Delivery
    • Building and sustaining a high‑performing Medical Affairs team, fostering continuous improvement and operational excellence.
    • Managing budgets, resources and performance metrics to ensure efficient plan execution.
  • Medical Excellence & Best Practice
    • Driving adoption of global processes, including publication planning, field medical strategy and medical impact measurement via KPIs.
    • Identifying opportunities for innovation to improve efficiency and value delivery.
  • Talent Development
    • Assessing capability gaps and providing targeted training and development opportunities.
    • Identifying and developing talent within the affiliate and across global teams.
  • Governance & Compliance
    • Overseeing and approving local IIS/NIS proposals.
    • Acting as final medical signatory for promotional/scientific materials, ensuring PMCPA compliance and adherence to company standards.
  • Collaboration & Partnership
    • Serving as a trusted partner to commercial teams, integrating medical insights into regulatory, launch and market access strategies.

Your Qualifications

Essential

  • Medical Doctor with Final Signatory status.
  • Significant Medical Affairs experience at a senior level, in a comparable organisation.
  • Deep knowledge of drug development, safety, regulatory requirements, market access and reimbursement.
  • Proven launch experience within a commercial healthcare/pharmaceutical environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead medical strategy and deliver results in a highly regulated setting.
  • Inclusive leadership style with advanced communication, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
  • Commercial awareness and ability to balance scientific integrity with business objectives.
  • Proven cross‑functional collaboration across medical, commercial, legal, regulatory and communications teams.
  • Experience in building and managing relationships with Key External Experts and other external stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate complex scientific and clinical information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Commitment to integrity, compliance, collaboration and high performance.
  • Adaptable, agile and execution‑focused.

Desirable

  • Experience in dermatology and/or biologics.
  • Experience leading organisational change and transformation.
